  10. Well let's see: Vietnam officially ended in 1973 or maybe 1975 so that would be 40 years ago and that would mean anyone, much less a Democrat would be likely to STILL be in office when they are probably over the age of 75 - so except for McCain (I know, but he might as well be a Democrat, that leaves only Kerry I believe!

  13. I'm only now learning that the Treasury has stopped issuing paper savings bonds.....it's all done electronically these days. Doesn't make that much of a difference- interest rates suck-diddly-uck these days....it's almost like we have a government run by people who want to punish those who are responsible with their money...

    1. There's utility stocks out there paying dividends comparble to the rates of CDs or savings bonds back in the golden days of 3%-4% APY CDs.

Utilities are boring as fuck-all 'coz there's no meteoric rise in the shares value like there has been with Google or Apple, but no matter how shitty the economy is, people are still gonna need electricity.

Kinda wish Killian Bundy would stop by so I could bounce a couple of ticker symbols off of him

    2. I wish he would come by too. He still does his weekly watch list on his blog and on Facebook.

    3. I was looking at that. Checked some of the stocks on his watchlist. Only a fraction of them pay dividends, which kinda runs counter to my 'Buy and hold' investment strategy

/or maybe it's 'buy and forget'....

    3. You're welcome. I'm sure there are others who haven't figured it out yet and maybe don't even know that we used to be on blogspot. I don't think anyone has been in touch with Beer Drinking Victory Monkey, for one. I think I found a twitter page for TFC3ID, so I left that up to Pi. Revo can probably contact UFO TOFU. Also, there are SoxFanForLife and Locke. I'm sure I'm forgetting others.

      Delete
    4. I tried a google search for Beerdrinkingvictorymonkey. I found something that suggested a posting at blogmocracy that was several years old.. Nothing else.

Locke is too generic of a handle to run a search for.

Soxfan and UFO may still be findable. Same for Dez.

It may take some time to collect everyone.

    5. IIRC, someone said they e-mailed Dez. OMG, I wonder if Squatch has been notified. We have a "friends of C2" private group on Facebook, so a lot of them know that way but Squatch has stopped using Facebook. OR says he has BDVM's e-mail on Yahoo but he could not log in to his Yahoo account earlier this evening. Jamgarr knows, via the Facebook group but he was having trouble logging in here. I e-mailed Noam Sayin'.

  17. Buenos días. On CNN Internationial, even Fareed Zakaria ( who IIRC was an Obama fanboi) witheringly described Obama's foreign policy on Syria as "inept", "a textbook case in how not to conduct foreign policy."

  18. Hey all y'all- fast hit and run here, but BigBadDemocrat was our buddy TFK - yep, he called me realwesternone (no one else does that) and he e-mailed me this morning and told me!! LOL!

As for Soxfan4Life, after news reports of an FBO being heavily assaulted in Afghanistan, I wrote to him .................and I haven't heard anything back.

    See you all later on!

  21. Ex-Pak Pres. Musharraf was living in exile, but decided to return to Pakistan prior to the elections earlier this year. That was probably a mistake.

Everybody and his brother's dog are now getting the corrupt Judiciary to charge Musharraf with crimes. These are regarding things which happened while Musharraf was President, and now he's being held personally responsible for them. It's reached a point of absurdity.

In 2007, a careless Karachi truck driver ran over a cat. Next week, Musharraf will be charged with murder in THAT case too.

  22. A few days ago, the NATO Sec'y-General said that NATO wouldn't take part in a military action against Syria.

Today he says, a firm international response is needed.

  23. Good morning again all y'all - from a cloudy, warm (going up to 91degrees) and HUMID Charlotte!
I hope all of you are doing well today.

And I gather that, once again, this Chill Thread is going to have to serve as the Morning thread, 1.10??!

Re: Syria. Obama has said that he's going to go ahead and attack Syria even if Congress doesn't vote in favor of it (don't have the link handy and it was yesterday so maybe he's changed his mind again).
Why do I get the feeling that this street corner Chicago thug, 3 card monte dealer is using Syria as yet another Shiny Penney with the Continuing Resolution and the Debt Ceiling debate coming up? And what the hell happened to his laser like focus on Jobs and the Economy, AGAIN??!

  24. A beautiful morning here. 65° and sunny!
    Hi all!
U.S. Open Tennis match . . . Obama lobbed a serve to Congress. No return yet.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Good morning {gak}! Well Obama's lob was so soft that Congress is waiting -and retying its collective shoes - for it to come down.
      :)

I did hear Chris Van Holland (D-?) House Minority Whip, say on Fox News that he would NOT vote for the legislation that was proposes by Obama as it is too broad and open ended. AND, he said, it also fails to specify what "Vital U.S. National Interests" are at stake in Syria. When an uberliberal, UBER PARTISAN Democrat like that, asks questions like that, I think Obama is going to have a tougher time with Congress than he (or Valerie Jarrett) may have thought!

      Delete
    2. Real, Mark Steyn (I think it was him) pointed out a very interesting "tweet" that David Axelrod sent over the weekend; in which he sneered that Congress is now "like the dog that caught the car", i.e. they wanted this issue referred to Congress, they "caught" it, and now, ha, they won't know what to do with it!

It's true that Axelrod no longer has any official position in the White House, but he represents the Obamaesque mindset as well as anyone. And THIS is how he sees this matter of life and death, this decision about whether to send our forces into harm's way or not; as a tool to be used in petty, partisan squabbling, nothing more. This is VERY telling.

    3. 'Morning O.R. - it is INDEED very telling. As I said somewhere up thread:

"Why do I get the feeling that this street corner Chicago thug, 3 card monte dealer is using Syria as yet another Shiny Penney with the Continuing Resolution and the Debt Ceiling debate coming up? And what the hell happened to his laser like focus on Jobs and the Economy, AGAIN??!"

The ONLY thing that is important about Syria to this Administration is that it is a distraction from the work to be done on the CR and the Debt Ceiling. But I can't believe anyone out here thinks Obama gives a damn about Syria anyway.

      Delete
    4. Morning {real}! Obama cares about Syria. He stepped in a crap pile. His concern, "get it off me"!

      Delete
  25. As far as I can tell, Obama's "stern" message to Assad goes something like this: I am very, very cross with you for using chemical weapons on your own people! Well, I was kind of cross the first time you did it a year ago. But now, I'm even more so. And I intend to teach you a lesson! But, well, not before later this month, when Congress gets back in session. And then, if they so "no", I may or may not attack anyway, I haven't made up my mind. Actually, even if they say "yes", I haven't made up my mind yet. And even if I do decide to launch an attack, not to worry; it'll be a purely symbolic, limited thing, really just designed to safe face for me, personally (after that "red line" oopsie... what was I supposed to do! There was no telemprompter). So, just sit tight for a few days, and ride it out.

Do I have that about right?
