  6. Seattle officer killed; police searching for suspects

Seattle police are devoting all of their energies in the search for suspects in Saturday's fatal drive-by shooting of a police officer who was seated with another officer in a patrol car parked near the intersection of 29th Avenue and East Yesler Way.

Speaking at a news conference Sunday afternoon, Assistant Police Chief Jim Pugel called the slaying of Officer Timothy Brenton an assassination. Britt Sweeney, a student officer who was with Brenton, was wounded in the shooting.

"All resources will be used, no matter what it takes, to bring these people to justice," Interim Police Chief John Diaz said during the news conference.

Police have not identified any suspects.

  14. Foot found on Richmond beach is seventh foot found on B.C. coast

A right foot has been found inside a running shoe on a beach in Richmond, the seventh foot found along B.C.’s coast in two years, RCMP said Wednesday.

Two men walking on the beach Tuesday evening found the foot in a white size 8.5 Nike running shoe on the beach at No. 6 Road and Triangle Road, the RCMP said.

The BC Coroners Service confirmed the remains were human through a forensic autopsy and will conduct more forensic tests in its investigation with the RCMP.

Exams by forensic pathologists and anthropologists will help determine physical characteristics, which, combined with DNA analysis, will help the police and coroners service build a profile to identify the person.

The feet have separated from the body through a natural process, the RCMP said.

The first severed foot, discovered in August 2007, was associated with a deceased man whose name police withheld at the request of his family.

A man’s right foot found on Gabriola Island in August 2007 remains unidentified.

Two feet found on Valdez and Westham islands in July 2008 belonged to the same man.

And two feet found in Richmond in December 2008 belonged to the same woman.

These grandparents are kinda special, they are the biological grandparents of our adopted daughter. They are wonderful people and they enjoy all the kids and we enjoy their company too.

  17. 20 years on the Fire Department warped my already twisted mind...

Every time I see one of those feet stories out of B.C. a line from Sherlock Holmes pops into my head.

    The Game is afoot!

    Bad, JCM, very bad.......

  18. If the stimulus created 640,000 jobs and we've spent 150 billion of stimulus money so far....isn't that like $230,000 per job?

    That's not good....Is it?

    ReplyDelete
  19. 640,000 jobs for bureaucrats to over see the equatable distribution of the stimulus funds......

    ReplyDelete
  20. Wow.

Scozzafava is a real class(less) act.

    Endorse the Democrat?

She has managed to confirm every doubt that the Republican base had about her.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Good evening, er, morning y'all! Hope everyone is doing well tonight!
THE YANKEES WON!! And for a change they didn't drag it out much. Just until the top of the 9th inning this time!

    ReplyDelete
  22. I predict a landslide victory for conservatives (not Republicans - Conservatives) on Tuesday!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Now Syrah, really. She has PLENTY OF CLASS. All of it LOW but still plenty of it!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Hi Syrah & RW! I thought of you when the yanks made those last runs, RW. You must be thrilled.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Hey hi Sage! How are you?!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Hi PBJ! I sure am! I so excited I could just plotz!
A little breathing room for the Yanks. If they don't win tomorrow, then the Phillies will have to beat the Yankees two straight games at Yankee Stadium! Championship #27 looks pretty close to being in hand right now!
How are you doing tonight, this morning, whatever!

  27. US admiral concerned about China military buildup

A U.S. Navy admiral expressed new concern Friday over China's military buildup and urged Beijing to be clearer about its intentions.

With China's military growing at an "unprecedented rate," the U.S. wants to ensure that expansion doesn't destabilize the region, Rear Adm. Kevin Donegan told reporters on a visit to the Chinese territory of Hong Kong.

Donegan referred to China's expanded weaponry. His remarks echoed the concerns of other U.S. military leaders who have said the growth in China's military spending — up almost 15 percent in the 2009 budget — raises questions about how Beijing plans on deploying its new power.

"When we see a military growing at that rate, we're interested in transparency and the understanding of the uses of that military," said Donegan, commander of the USS George Washington aircraft carrier strike group, a key part of the U.S. Pacific Fleet.

Duh! Something I've been harping on for years.

The ChiComs are not our friends.

Quick cultural point. The Chinese are know as the "Middle Kingdom" that is a mistranslation, it's more accurately rendered "Center Kingdom." As in center of the world, both geographically and political the center. There is a deep cultural belief based on history and other facts that China by rights should be the sole dominate power.

That is just one thing to keep in mind when dealing with them the other is they ARE FUCKING COMMIES! Commies believe their system superior in all respects to any other.

The result in China is we have a very patient, very intractable enemy. One which can smile and shake your hand, while the other hand is sharpening the knife to do you in with.

  28. I predict a landslide victory for conservatives (not Republicans - Conservatives) on Tuesday!

    That would be very nice.

The Politico has an article up the NY 23.

I think this is big. Its an expression about the discontent in the party at large.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Hey Syrah - did you read where her campaign manager endorsed the Conservative Candidate?
How the hell does someone do that? Manage the political campaign of someone who's policies and politics you can't stand?!
And not be a LEFTY, I mean.

I think the King Co. Exec race is going to be telling. If the conservative wins here over the entrenched establishment (D), it spells trouble for the (D)s at large.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I'm fine RW, just suffering from lack of sleep. Our Halloween party went until 3:45AM, I thought we had a prowler about 4:30, then at 7:45 a friend brought a puppy here she had seen being abandoned. The pup ran around with my dogs all morning so I never got any more sleep.

Anybody want a cute little black terrier type pup?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Evening JCM! DAMN YANKEES? That means you're either a Phillies fan or someone who has probably bet on the wrong team to win the Series!
    :)
BTW, about your comment about the ChiComs - why is it that otherwise rational and very intelligent people like the Chinese (and you have to admit that they are intelligent) still support a system (communism) which has failed EVERY SINGLE PLACE it's been tried?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Anybody want a cute little black terrier type pup?

I know a nice girl in Tehachapi who takes in abandoned dogs.

    ReplyDelete
  35. How the hell does someone do that? Manage the political campaign of someone who's policies and politics you can't stand?!

Some people play for the team, not so much for the candidate. My guess is that he was playing for the team.

I think it is important to note that he did endorse the Conservative, not the Democrat.

    ReplyDelete
  36. This could get really interesting.

The nation's largest prosecutors' union filed suit Friday against Los Angeles County District Attorney Steve Cooley, claiming his office had intimidated and retaliated against employees who joined the union.

The federal suit filed by the Association of Deputy District Attorneys claims Cooley and top officials in his office retaliated against union supporters through unpaid suspensions, work transfers and threats of termination. In addition, the suit said, the DA's Office singled out unionized prosecutors for higher health insurance premiums.

Sandi Gibbons, a spokeswoman for Cooley's office, referred questions to the County Counsel's Office. Assistant County Counsel Manuel Valenzuela declined comment while the suit was being reviewed.

Matthew Monforton, a former prosecutor who is representing the plaintiffs, said Cooley's office had used its investigators to intimidate union members.

  37. I think the King Co. Exec race is going to be telling. If the conservative wins here over the entrenched establishment (D), it spells trouble for the (D)s at large.

If the Dems lose the King Co. Exec race, I think they will become even more extreme then they are now.

I don't think that either side of the polis wants anything to do with "moving to the middle" anymore.

Politics is going to get very intense for a while.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Real,

See I'm a Marines fan, every time Seattle gets into the post season the DAMN YANKEES get in the way......

I think with other Commie systems the people would be glad to be rid of it. But the those in the Party hierarchy have it too good riding on the backs of the people to let it go easily.

China also has the culture problem of class you are want you are and you can't change it. Getting them to change things from the bottom up is hard. They will respond to leadership, Mao is one negative example. But anyone who bucks he current system gets real dead, real fast, and they make sure every knows that's one happens to malcontents.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Sage, I'll keep that in mind. The gal that brought him here says she is coming back to get him but Ric and I don't think she will. She cannot have a dog in her apartment. Hubby does not want me to keep her. :-(

    ReplyDelete
  40. Politics is going to get very intense for a while.

Which is what the founders wanted....

A market place of ideas, trashed out in public. Not Obama's false "civility."

    ReplyDelete
  41. Hey Syrah - from your Politico link: “The age of party leaders picking people is over,” Newt Gingrich, the former House speaker and Scozzafava supporter, e-mailed POLITICO, alluding to Scozzafava’s having received the nomination by a vote of county party committee chairmen."
And I think for once in the 23rd CD race, Newt (who had endorsed ScozzafavaRD) finally got it right. The Democrat bullshit artists are saying that the GOP is splintered. It's NOT. There is still plenty of room in the Center-Right Republican Tent, but no more for the Center-Left folks posing as Republicans.

  43. JCM - you said "See I'm a Marines fan, every time Seattle gets into the post season the DAMN YANKEES get in the way......"
Now waitaminute - the Yankees are good, but no way they take the Marines!! (although Alex Rodriguez coulda used body armor in the four games played so far - he's been hit by a pitcher FOUR times in the series thus far, once in game 1, twice last night and once tonight.)!!

    ReplyDelete
  44. I think that is correct RW.

The "pragmatic" wing will have to decide if they really are "pragmatic" enough to play for the team, or if they will go the way of Scozzafava.

    -

    Back in an hour. . . .

    ReplyDelete
  45. Hey, hi again Sage! GMTA!!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Hey RW.....we are BOTH fans of the Marines!

    ReplyDelete
  47. You're absolutely correct Syrah - there are, sad to say, enough damn LEFTISTS in the Democratic party - hell the whole Dem Party is practically all LEFTISTS and a very few who are Center-Left.
Republicans need to be Center-RIGHT to win this country back again and to keep it by governing from the Center-Right.

[A]ll power is originally vested in, and consequently derived from, the people. That government is instituted and ought to be exercised for the benefit of the people; which consists in the enjoyment of life and liberty and the right of acquiring property, and generally of pursuing and obtaining happiness and safety. 49. Sage, did you get a chance to talk to my great nephew last night. He is only 22 and already a Sgt. in the Marines!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Well I'm YOUR Fan Sage and you were a Marine but let's not get too carried away here; generally speaking, as a former Army man, I respect the Marines in general, but tolerate most of 'em!

Testers, contributors, admins - please just post here until we open now. The place is all pristeen and cleaned up and ready for guests...so please don't post there until we open up. There are no real threads to post on anymore anyway...stuff is set on a timer.

  58. Our president is stuck on stupid, he can't make a decision about what to do in Afghanistan.

    ReplyDelete
  59. He's made his decision Sage. He just trying to decide who he'll piss off more - the folks who believed him when he said he'd win in Afghanistan or the folks who believed him when he said we'd pull out of Afghanistan.
Then when he reaches his conclusion, he'll announce it.
But I sure hope that motherfucker doesn't show up at Dove AFB again to salute those Brave American Troops who made the ultimate sacrifice for our Nation, treating like a photo-op.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Well I seem to have stopped the thread dead in it's tracks! Sorry about that Folks (and btw it is Dover AFB, not Dove AFB!).

Scozzafava is what the Democrats would like to be the definition of what it means to be a "moderate" Republican.

She endorsed the Democrat. She is the kind of Republican that Democrats like.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Good night, PBJ!! I can't sleep until the doors open, so...here we go.

    ReplyDelete
  71. We'll have a thread up here in the morning after history, where people can post and let us know if they're having trouble.

Bare will be at work, but at least we can keep in touch and do what we're able. (I'm kind of a techno dumbbell, so...they're out of luck if they expect me to help. LOL)

    ReplyDelete
  76. F2: Saw you in there. : ) If you'd like a different display name you can change it there, or if you'd like a different account entirely we can arrange that as well.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  82. Jack, Pink: It's possible to change the display name (easy, in fact), but it may not be possible to change the username. I'd have to ask about that.

    ReplyDelete
  83. (Of course, anything is possible if Bare does it for you. : )
