    1. But is it appropriate for a Nobel Peace Prize winner to have a military?
In any case, if he is looking for a nice targeted response in Syria, how about destroying the chemical weapons, and letting them fight it out with conventional weapons? I wish there were an easier way to get rid of all the guns and let them fight it out with real 9th century weapons, but that takes a creature from Star Trek.

    1. That's a hell of a link to type in!

Here's how to create clickable links while we're on the blogspot site!

      1) Start with the basic link code:

      <a href=""></a>

(IMPORTANT: There MUST be a space between "a" and "href".)

      2) Paste your link between the quotes, like this:

      <a href="http://i.imgur.com/z7GoU3U.jpg"></a>

      3) Write your descriptive text between the > and <, like this:

      <a href="http://i.imgur.com/z7GoU3U.jpg">Curious bunny</a>

      4) To help set the link apart from regular text, bold it with b tags, like this:

      <b><a href="http://i.imgur.com/z7GoU3U.jpg">Curious bunny</a></b>

If done right, the result should look and act like this:

      Curious bunny

  7. HEY JCM and all y'all - I know what Pi Guy wrote about how to link things, but I are too tired to try to understand them.
So just copy and paste this to understand Obama's relationship with our military:

  8. (NOT) JOHN CLEESE ON THREATS TO EUROPE (UPDATED)

UPDATE: Turns out this is not from John Cleese, though it has an Aristotelian authenticity that causes me to leave it up anyway.

This is making the rounds, and should not be missed:

    ALERTS TO THREATS
    IN 2013 EUROPE

    From JOHN CLEESE

The English are feeling the pinch in relation to recent events in Syria and have therefore raised their security level from “Miffed” to “Peeved.” Soon, though, security levels may be raised yet again to “Irritated” or even “A Bit Cross.” The English have not been “A Bit Cross” since the blitz in 1940 when tea supplies nearly ran out. Terrorists have been re-categorized from “Tiresome” to “A Bloody Nuisance.” The last time the British issued a “Bloody Nuisance” warning level was in 1588, when threatened by the Spanish Armada.

The Scots have raised their threat level from “Pissed Off” to “Let’s get the Bastards.” They don’t have any other levels. This is the reason they have been used on the front line of the British army for the last 300 years.

The French government announced yesterday that it has raised its terror alert level from “Run” to “Hide.” The only two higher levels in France are “Collaborate” and “Surrender.” The rise was precipitated by a recent fire that destroyed France ‘s white flag factory, effectively paralyzing the country’s military capability.

Italy has increased the alert level from “Shout Loudly and Excitedly” to “Elaborate Military Posturing.” Two more levels remain: “Ineffective Combat Operations” and “Change Sides.”

The Germans have increased their alert state from “Disdainful Arrogance” to “Dress in Uniform and Sing Marching Songs.” They also have two higher levels: “Invade a Neighbour” and “Lose.”

Belgians, on the other hand, are all on holiday as usual; the only threat they are worried about is NATO pulling out of Brussels ..

The Spanish are all excited to see their new submarines ready to deploy. These beautifully designed subs have glass bottoms so the new Spanish navy can get a really good look at the old Spanish navy.

Australia, meanwhile, has raised its security level from “No worries” to “She’ll be right, Mate.” Two more escalation levels remain: “Crikey! I think we’ll need to cancel the barbie this weekend!” and “The barbie is cancelled.” So far no situation has ever warranted use of the last final escalation level.

    Regards,
    John Cleese ,
British writer, actor and tall person

And as a final thought – Greece is collapsing, the Iranians are getting aggressive, and Rome is in disarray. Welcome back to 430 BC.

  10. THEY TOLD ME IF I VOTED FOR MITT ROMNEY, WE’D HAVE A PRESIDENT BRIT-PUNDITS WOULD MOCK FOR CLUMSY INEPTITUDE. AND THEY WERE RIGHT! Barack Obama is proving an embarrassing amateur on the world stage compared to George W. Bush. “As it stands, President Obama’s proposed military coalition on Syria has a grand total of two members – the US and France. And the French, as we know from Iraq, simply can’t be relied on, and have very limited military capability. It is a truly embarrassing state of affairs when Paris, at best a fair weather friend, is your only partner. . . . In marked contrast to Obama, President Bush invested a great deal of time and effort in cultivating ties with key US allies, especially Britain.”

This must be more of that “smart diplomacy” we were promised.

  12. Detroit TV Station Lets Ridiculous Claim That McDonalds ‘Made Like $500 Billion Last Year’ Stand

    Filed under: Business Moves,Economy,MSM Biz/Other Bias,MSM Biz/Other Ignorance,Taxes & Government — Tom @ 6:37 am

Vickie Thomas and the news department at Detroit TV station WWJ really ought to be ashamed of themselves. The open question is whether they even know enough to be ashamed.

In reporting on a Motor City McDonald’s store which was forced to close — whether it was for a few hours or all day and night isn’t disclosed — Thomas quoted a “protester” claiming that “McDonald’s made like $500 billion last year.” Most readers would interpret “made” as the company’s annual profit. The company’s worldwide net income in 2012 was $5.5 billion, barely 1 percent of the protester’s completely unchallenged figure. The “like $500 billion” cited and allowed to stand is also 14 times larger than the $35.6 billion in gross sales at all of McDonald’s U.S. franchised and company-owned stores.
