US: Massachusetts can't force gay marriage benefits

States that allow gay marriage can't force the federal government to provide benefits to those couples, the Obama administration argued Friday in court papers in a lawsuit by Massachusetts.

The Justice Department is at odds with Massachusetts—the first state to allow gay marriage—over a 1996 federal law defining marriage as a union between a man and a woman.

Massachusetts sued in July, saying that law is discriminatory and deprives gay couples in the state of some federal spousal benefits.

US warily leans to new Iran sanctions over nukes

Frustrated by Iran's continued defiance of demands to come clean on its nuclear program, the Obama administration is leaning toward imposing new sanctions, even if it must act alone.

Senate, White House agree on reporter protections

The White House, key senators and media representatives have reached a compromise on legislation to protect reporters from being forced to disclose their confidential sources in federal court.

Senate supporters of the so-called media shield bill said Friday that the deal gives the government authority to override those rights in certain national security cases.

Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., said the agreement "strikes the right balance between national security concerns and the public's right to know." He said it would preserve a strong defense for reporters trying to protect sources while making sure the government can do its job of protecting citizens.

I also do but regrettably no, I was unable to get into contact with her. It is law that private info is not given away.
New twist to her story is that apparently her former circle of friends (expatriate Russians 'n Ukrainians) seem to turn away from her the more she is adapting and becoming part of the normal (working) German society. I heard that from well intending colleagues.
There is still those here, luckily. I will however occupy my time a bit more with her and will of course ask her if she would be interested in an online community of like minded people.

Sex abuse of girl, 4, streamed live on Web

A man and his ex-wife are accused of sexually abusing a 4-year-old girl and streaming the abuse live on the Internet.

Brian K. Beston, 36, of Kent, and Hollie Beston, 31, of Burien, have each been charged with first-degree child rape, first-degree child molestation, exploitation of a minor and dealing in depictions of a minor engaged in sexually-explicit conduct.

Started with scleritis first. Scleritis is due to something else happening in your body. They diagnosed rheumatoid arthritis several months later. When I had to take a TB test before starting my long term treatment for the RA. I tested positive for TB...just finished a nine month treatment for the TB exposure.

Good news...I'm off all steroids, prednisone and the Humira for the RA.

  52. Oh yeah. you married guys know what this is like... Friday evening, the wife calls, says she & the girls from the office are going out for a drink after work, and could I be a dear and hold dinner for her. You know what means, they're off to some sleazy peeler bar to ogle the young flesh. Sure, hon, I says, I'll hold your dinner.

Later tonight, sometime, who knows when, she'll stumble in, the smell of cheap cosmopolitans on her breath. And then she'll smile & bat those baby blues at me and apologize that one drink turned into "a few", you know how it is. Sure, baby, I know how it is. She'll have that look in her eye, like she expects me to be her own private Chippendale. She'll start pawing at me, it always makes me feel so cheap, so used.

I wonder what I should wear... The Cowboy costume or the GI look? Hmmm... I know, it is Halloween, after all... now where did I leave my bolts...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NWrCf7rAytc

Of course, the kids will be horribly embarrassed as usual, "Like, eewwwwww Daaaad, Moooom, do you two have to do this every Friday night? Garosssss!"

Yeah, I could see that kinda ruining the moment. I lived in small towns mostly, so the only issues like that involved the police knowing the girl's father quite well, and dreading the fact that you KNOW that the dad will be notified almost immediately, if not sooner... LOL

  80. Scozzafava Collapses, Republicans Refocus

The events of the last 24 hours have pretty much clinched it: NY-23 is now officially a two-man race between the Democratic nominee Bill Owens and the Conservative Party upstart Doug Hoffman.

From NRCC Chairman Pete Sessions to former Gov. George Pataki to former Mayor Rudy Giuliani (through his operative, Jake Menges), Republicans are quickly abandoning their nominee, Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava, and backing Hoffman in a last-ditch effort to keep former Rep. John McHugh's seat in GOP hands and, perhaps more importantly, deny the Obama administration a much-needed political victory.

"I think it’s now to a point where we’ve got to win the Republican seat; it’s not about liberal or conservative," said a GOP consultant. "It’s about if we don’t help (Hoffman) over the finish line, Owens is going to win."

"Dede’s out of it," the consultant continued. "The bottom has dropped out on her. She can’t win it. Looks like Sessions and the national Republicans are seeing that. It was a poor choice on Sessions' part to go with her in the first place."

Another Republican on the ground in NY-23 said the Republican rush to embrace Hoffman was motivated in no small part to yesterday's DailyKos poll that found him in a dead heat with Owens (33-32) with Scozzafava trailing badly at 21 percent.

The third and final Siena poll of the NY-23 race will be released tomorrow Sunday. When Siena last weighed in on this race on Oct. 15, it found Owens leading by four percentage points with Scozzafava losing ground and Hoffman moving up fast.

But, but, he's a Creationist Tea Partier! How can this be happening to our beloved RINO Dede despite our smear attempt?
