Daily Gut: The Al Sharpton History Minute
I speak tonight of Al Sharpton, who just attacked Rush Limbaugh’s attempt to buy the St. Louis Rams (I believe it’s tetherball), sending a letter to commissioner Roger Goodell, saying the wildly popular conservative host has been “divisive.”
Divisive.
Now, I made a decision late in my odd career that any time Al Sharpton would enter the fray and make a charge like that, I would act as a one-man “Al Sharpton Historian.” My role: to give you background as to why there is no one on the planet less mentally or morally fit to make a statement about race (or anything, for that matter) than Al.
Senators say U.S. climate bill making progress
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democratic U.S. senators pushing legislation on global warming said on Tuesday they were making progress in winning support for the controversial measure, which is expected to begin moving through a key Senate committee sometime in November.

Graham to constituents: 'Chill out'
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) had some frank words for constituents who attended a town hall meeting Monday in Greenville: "chill out."
According to The State, the centrist Republican lawmaker used the slang phrase repeatedly in response to combative and often accusatory comments made by audience members, most of whom represented far-right viewpoints. Attendees shouted, jeered, and waved anti-government signs at the senator throughout the meeting, but Graham was unperturbed. After explaining that bipartisan compromise is a crucial part of the political process, Graham finished by saying, "If you don't like it, you can leave."
MRC's Bozell Demands CNN, MSNBC Source Racist Charges Against Limbaugh
"CNN and MSNBC must immediately and publicly source when Limbaugh uttered this phrase. He has unequivocally denied it. Now it is up to the same news media that reported it as fact to prove that it was, indeed, stated," NewsBusters Publisher Bozell insisted in a statement, arguing that if the charges are undocumentable, the offending networks are "100% guilty of character assassination."

A study by the Department of Political Affairs of the United Nations Organization (UNO) on the causes of the crisis in Honduras, concluded that the removal of President Manuel Zelaya, "was constitutional under the laws of the country," confirmed officials of that agency. This version was officially known today by senior UN officials, which also coincides with the study prepared by the Library of Congress, which looked at by his side, the situation that generated and maintained in a political crisis in Honduras.

The Rush Limbaugh thing is maddening. The man is being actively banned from industry because of his political speech and influence. I've looked at this story for a day or two, waiting for "proof" that the man is a racist. There is none. The fact that it's taken this long to find anything exonerates him from the charge. The man has been target number one of the Left for two decades. If there was any "there" there, we'd have heard about it the next day (and every day since) in the MSM.

Recently he "compare" Obama's health care symbol to symbol's of the 3rd Reich. If some one has been listening to Rush, and understand his "illustrating absurdity with absurdity" it was clear he was ridiculing the (D)s calling the Tea Parties racist.
He intentionally throws red meat comments out there knowing the Left will pick it up and run with it, knowing full well he can use the full context to hoist them on their own petard.

ReplyDeleteLOL. That reminds me of what happened to a friend. Oh about 1 1/2 years ago, he wanted to replace a door knob on his back door. The Door was not plumb, so he called in a carpenter friend to see what the problem was. The floor in the back hall with the door was a landing going down to the basement. This landing was not even because the old floor supports are wood and about 120 years old and should really be replaced. To do so, one would have to remove the lathe and plaster on the walls and ceiling of the basement . But, if you are going to replace supports, you should pour new footings. But if you are going to pour new footing, you should do something about the water leaking into the basement from the old and cracked drain tiles, tear up the old floor that is leaching in ground water, and glass block the windows after we tear them out to haul out all of the concrete, wood, plaster, lathe .. . . .
So . . . . if you are going to do that, you might as well put in the large closet under the stairs because we have to run the pipes down into the basement and into the main waste drain. Best to do so when the floor is ripped up.
So . . .what started as a replacing a doorknob has resulted in: A new first floor bathroom, a new basement floor with new drain tiles, a new sump pump, new stair case and landing with nice wood floor, new paint all around and . . .1 1/2 years later, a new door knob.
Redstate: Thanks. I don't feel like quite such a technodork.

Unintended consequences of crap and trade:
ReplyDeleteA report from the Environmental Protection Agency is buttressing claims by Midwest utilities that they would be penalized more than their counterparts in other states under a cap-and-trade global warming prevention bill passed this summer by the House of Representatives.
The EPA report, submitted in response to a request by U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold (D-Wis.), says 12 states led by California and New York would fare the best under the cap-and-trade plan. Wisconsin is one of 10 states - located primarily in the Midwest - that would fare the worst, the EPA said.
The EPA analysis delved into a technical but significant aspect of the House bill that seeks to reduce U.S. emissions of gases linked to global warming by 83% by 2050. Emissions would be reduced by setting a cap on emissions that would shrink over time, requiring changes in the automotive sector and by utilities and industries that burn fossil fuels at power plants.
A group that includes Madison-based Alliant Energy Corp. and Milwaukee-based Wisconsin Energy Corp. formed to challenge a formula that divvied up credits that would be granted to utilities under the bill to help them comply with the new mandates. They say the formula, developed by the largest utility companies in the country, benefits power companies on the East and West coasts while penalizing the Midwest.
"I have heard concerns from my constituents about how the climate change bill could unfairly impact Wisconsin," Feingold said in a statement. "I look forward to working with the administration and my colleagues in the Senate to ensure we address the serious problem of climate change without unfairly hurting Wisconsin."

ReplyDeleteU.S. Pay Czar Tries Again to Trim A.I.G. Bonuses
The bonus agreements at issue were struck before last year’s emergency rescues by the Treasury and the Federal Reserve, and thus are not directly covered by the new rules.

Company officials argued at the time that only a handful of the employees of financial products bore responsibility for the disastrous derivatives trading, and it was unfair to blame everybody for the harm caused by a few. The company also said it wanted to honor its commitments because skilled people might resign en masse if bonuses were rescinded.
The new audit pointed out that the bonus program for the Financial Products unit was unusual because it included payments to unessential people. It cited a $7,700 bonus for a kitchen assistant, a $7,000 bonus for a mailroom assistant and $700 for a file administrator.

ReplyDeleteGotta run. My shoulder is killing me so it's difficult for me to do the computer, and I am so behind... just returned last night from burying my sister, who died last Monday. She was 15 months older than I. It's been a long week. Hope to be back later.
ReplyDeletejorline, I joined the Cub Pack committe last night and will start with planning unit participation in the 100th anniversary of Scouting in the US (2010).
ReplyDeleteThen I plan to do two things:
1) Teach Whittlin' Chip so all the little Wolves, Bears, and Webelos can carry a pocket knife on official duty and
2) Teach camp craft including firebuilding
Muwhahahahahahahahahaha!

If this weapon does get deployed, it will be by the USAF. I don't think the Israelis have a jet that will handle it?
Later JD

Hey folks, now here's a sweet website on the new USS New York, LPD 21, made with steel from the World Trade Center.
Eight tons worth. I only wish they would have made her an aircraft carrier. That way the USS New York would have the fire power to bomb Al Qaeda's ass to hell.
The B-2 Bomber City of New York (the B-2s are named) made the first drop on Afghanistan.
JD,
ReplyDeletePrayers for you and your family, peace and strength for you during this time.

DD - I can't link, but here is the address of the 911 call from Kenosha WI a few days ago: http://www.620wtmj.com/podcasts/newstogo/64109437.html?video=pop&t=a
ReplyDeleteThe gist of it is that they shot this ladies husband and she is standing in the room with them with a gun to her head while she is calling 911.
They obviously caught the guys. She even id'd them on the phone and starts yelling at them.
