  30. CC, if I'da known earlier that Media Matters was going to do the complete round up, I wouldn't have spent all that time finding links for the Obamoprah Fiasco. They've got it all in one place for me, all wrapped up with a pretty bow.

    Wasn't that considerate of them?

  31. anyone remember Jacques Chirac?

    lol

Former French President Jacques Chirac has announced that he has given away his beloved dog after it attacked him for a third time.
Sumo, a Maltese terrier, is reported to have bitten him in the stomach in their apartment in the capital, Paris.
Mr Chirac's wife, Bernadette, said the dog had been treated for depression after finding it difficult to come to terms with leaving the Elysee Palace.

ploome...there is something about the mental image of a dog just going off on Chirac that just makes me laugh my ass off.

I wonder how big a Maltese Terrier is. I'll have to look that up.

  34. Hi Ploomie ....doggie depression, huh? So sad .....

    ReplyDelete
  42. CC you really should read the BBC article I linked-there is a pic of the dog there also

    the article continues

In January this year, Mr Chirac had to be hospitalised after the dog sank his teeth into an unnamed body part.
In this latest attack, Mrs Chirac said that Sumo had been lying quietly at her feet but flew into a violent rage on the approach of her husband.
The dog leapt up and nipped the former French leader in the stomach.

    lol

  43. CC,

Leave it to a Fwenchie to get attacked by a rat dog.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Pink,

    I saw the sign.

I'd put that up in my cube at work, but since it's inside humor I won't.

    It's funny as hell!

  46. Good evening y'all - this is REALWEST! Glad to see you all out here given the "photo" that led this thread but I gotta question - why is she using the handicap booth?!
And NO Bare - y'all didn't get away without your contribution to that fugly photo, not at all! LOL!
And speaking of "funny", albeit not "ha-ha" funny, how's about this video - boy are they hot stuff or what? http://www.breitbart.tv/mansion-obamacare-backers-target-home-of-insurance-executive/

  51. The Healthcare Bankruptcy Myth

A study by the Department of Justice examined more than 5,000 bankruptcy cases between 2000 and 2002. It found that 54% of bankruptcies involve no medical debt, and more than 90% have medical debt of less than $5,000. Even among the minority of bankruptcies that report medical debt, only a few have enough to cause personal bankruptcy.

    Lefty, lies, lies, lies.......

    ReplyDelete
  52. I was just looking at Steyn's latest comment on the Roman Polanski business, and it struck me.

How is Roman Polanski better than some polygamist in some compound in rural Utah with a thirteen year-old "wife"? Why does Hollywood love one and hate the other?

    ReplyDelete
  53. Hey CC - linking up my link? That sounds sorta, vaugley, ah,stimulating!
    Thankew!
    And what is Gravatar?
    And hi Pink and JCM!

Yes indeedy, Olympics or no Olympics - well actually just No Olympics but nice try Oprah, Michelle and Barry (in order of impotance) there is still no substitute for class-warfare - see my link up above or the one CC is putting up.

Man, HATE is a really Powerful Emotion and I'm afraid that one of these days the haters are gonna get hurt! Ya know, from a hernia or somesuch for the VOLUME of the hate they spew.

    ReplyDelete
  54. CC,

    There isn't 40+ million un-insured crisis. There isn't a medical bankruptcy crisis...

Just remember who was teaching at Columbia when Obama attended.

    ReplyDelete
  55. CC, I know nothing about Gravatar ...but if you like it, I trust you.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Gravatar is a site that links your avatar to your email address - so anyplace that uses Gravatar will automatically display the avatar connected to the email account you have associated with that site.

So let's say you associate a certain email address with the new CorrComm; once you go to gravatar.com and upload your avatar there, it will display it at CorrComm (if we decide to use it), and it will display it at any website with that email address for you on file if you post there.

    Make sense?

Here's the link to the site where you sign up and upload the avatar you want to use. Check it out if you want to, and if it's too weird, Bare and I have already figured out a solution where your avatar is concerned.

    We got this. : )

    ReplyDelete
  57. Hollywood's been working on perfecting those double standards for decades, CC ...I doubt they're able to see their hypocrisy.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Hey JCM! Uh, does that mean that 46% of all bankruptcies DO involve Medical Debt? That does seem kinda high to me, but also very effin' extreme if true.
I mean, I got hit with a $265,000 hospital bill for a two week stay (doctors, labs and X-rays I paid seperately)without any surgical proceedures when I didn't have medical insurance and I could certainly understand THAT driving someone to bankruptcy, but I was also told by a hospital administrator - in a deposition under oath, no less - that this Private-for Profit hospital "calculated" its rates based on the money it lost from folks with no health insurance or medicare or medicaid; so that $265,000 was NOT based on what it cost the hospital to "house and feed me" for two weeks at all. I won, they lost.
But it made me think; how many folks are driven to bankruptcy by this sorta perverse accounting system which I was told, again under oath, is prevalent in ALL hospitals?

    ReplyDelete
  59. Pinkie, if you see the link in my post to realwest above this one, check it out. Sign up with the email you plan to use at C2, and upload an avatar (you can stretch the box to include your whole image if you upload the current one - it should look fine, and they let you preview)...you can upload several and they just keep them there for you, if I'm not mistaken. Then you just have to select the one you want to use.

Any other site that associates you with that address will display it, too.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I went and checked it out when you mentioned it, CC. I'm a little on the fence about changing my avatar ...it was made specially for me by an absolute sweetheart and that has its own meaning to me.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Hmm ...that sounds easy, CC. I'm not sure what else I would use, though. Maybe a real pic of me one of these days. :)

    ReplyDelete
  62. CC - it sounds as if you use Gravatar to upload an avatar (*cough someone said they would upload my avatar - which appears if you click Realwest in the Corressponce Committe link, then click realwest - to my name at our final site *cough*)
then anyone can get your e-mail addy by clicking your avatar?
Are there alternatives that are worthwhile that you can turn on/turn off your e-mail addy?!

    ReplyDelete
  63. You can use the same one, Pinkie. You just upload it there too.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Well, I don't think "anyone can get your email address by clicking your avatar" - but I know a site that uses Gravatar, and I'll check to make sure I'm not mistaken about that.

That'd be a major drawback if true, but I can't imagine that it works that way. I'll check though to make sure.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Real,

54% list no medical debt, meaning the remaining 46% list some medical debt, but 90% have less than $5k.

But fewer than one percent of Americans enter bankruptcy each year. Of those, only three to five percent are plausibly bankrupt due to medical debt,

    ReplyDelete
  66. Gotcha CC. Just seeing the picasa site now. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Hey JCM - that's really astounding to me: that
fewer than 1% of Americans file in bankruptcy each year - given our ever rising rate of unemployment and of our really rapidly rising rate of underemployment, NOT TO MENTION the tremendous increase in Mortgage Foreclosures and "Short Sales" I would have expect the % of bankruptices to be significantly higher than that.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Hmmm....Alejandro Mayorkas.

President Obama Announces More Key Administration Posts

Part of Clintons last hour pardongate, resigned after the report on the pardons came out.

Obama's New Immigration Chief Got Argentine Drug Dealer Pardon

Agency Plans for Visa Push by Residents Made Legal

Although President Obama has put off an immigration overhaul until next year, the federal agency in charge of approving visas is planning ahead for the possibility of giving legal status to millions of illegal immigrants, the agency’s director said Thursday.

“We are under way to prepare for that,” Alejandro Mayorkas, the director of the agency, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, said in an interview. Mr. Obama has told immigration officials that a legalization program would be part of legislation the White House would propose, said Mr. Mayorkas, who became director in August. The agency’s goal, he said, is to be ready to expand rapidly to handle the gigantic increase in visa applications it would face if the legislation, known as comprehensive immigration reform, passed Congress.

Damn, these old names just keep turning up.
    Anyway, I need some sleepage.

    Nite folks.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Evening all. Thought I would make last call at the Liberty tonight, instead I got greeted with THAT sight up there. Where are you Desert Sage? You have some 'splaining to doooo.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Real,

Personal bankruptcies topped the 1 million mark in the first nine months of the year, the first time it has done so in four years, according to an industry research firm released Friday.

1 million out of 300 million that's one third of one percent. Even you only count working Americans (140 million) that still only 0.7%.

When it comes to medical bankruptcy, we're talking 50,000 people. While individually it's a hardship, it's not significant enough to completely throw the medical system under the bus.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Good night Squatch! Sleep well my friend!

    ReplyDelete
  72. JCM - I noticed that the last couple of sentences from you link were:

"ABI, an industry research firm, expects consumers to file more than 1.4 million bankruptcies in 2009, up at least 30% from last year's total of 1,074,225.

September 2009 filings rose to 124,790 which was up 4% from August 2009 and up 41% from September 2008."
Which would account some for my misconceptions; there weren't any where near the number of people unemployed nor Mortgages foreclosed in 2008 - While Bush was POTUS, then there are almost 10 months after Obama became POTUS; and that ABI is projecting significant increases in the September 2010 filings, after Obama has had nearly two years as POTUS. Interesting!
BTW, just out of curiosity, I wonder who ABI is and that there was a bankruptcy research business out there?

    ReplyDelete
  73. Uh, Correspondence Committee two things: one is do y'all remember what you told me about my avatar, hmmmmm?
And secondly, I went to that website and didn't see any information there to idicted that e-mail addy's would be included with the avatars.

    ReplyDelete
  74. PIMF: indicated, not idicted!
Damn TypePad is ALWAYS making typos on me!
    LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  75. Yes, I do remember that - and it just depends on which service we use, or if we use one at all, how we do that.

Like I told you upthread, we gotcha covered.

Bare is using Gravatar right now, and he only gets a screen name when he hovers over it, nothing when he clicks on it. But we'll test it thoroughly IF we use it at all.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Real,

    American Bankruptcy Institute

The American Bankruptcy Institute is the largest multi-disciplinary, non-partisan organization dedicated to research and education on matters related to insolvency. ABI was founded in 1982 to provide Congress and the public with unbiased analysis of bankruptcy issues. The ABI membership includes more than 12,000 attorneys, auctioneers, bankers, judges, lenders, professors, turnaround specialists, accountants and other bankruptcy professionals providing a forum for the exchange of ideas and information. In fulfillment of its mission to provide information to its members, journalists, Congress and the public, ABI is engaged in numerous educational and research activities, as well as the production of a number of publications both for the insolvency practitioner and the public.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Hey JCM, just saw and then went to and read your link on Personal bankruptcies topped the 1 million mark in the first nine months of the year, the first time it has done so in four years, according to an industry research firm released Friday.
And while I agree that Mrs.Edwards has most certainly been abused by former Democratic Senator Edwards, methinks that the pity runs waaay to deep for her there; if costs of healthcare are really examined, then I expect her soon to be former husband would have had DRAMATICALLY less net worth, so she blamed it on the cost of healthcare.
Now if she'd gone in and said "Tort Reform Is required to significanly lower health costs - and if you don't believe me, ask my divorce lawers who have examined my strange and estranged Husband's net worth and how he earned it." it would have a) been more accurate and b) have provided some ammo for folks pushing for Tort Reform!

    ReplyDelete
  78. Why thankew kindly for that explanation of the
    American Bankruptcy Institute JCM!

    ReplyDelete
  79. Real,

Seems WSJ and others use their numbers, including members of the media.

So, if the "source" of bankruptcy number says one thing. It begs the question why the MFMSM use lets the (D)s use the 64%?

    Makes one wonder......

    ReplyDelete
  80. Oh look, 2.7 million jobs lost, highest unemployment rate in 26 years!

/hip, hip, hooray, you go Obama and the Democrats (hopefully starting in 2010)!

    ReplyDelete
  81. Well you already know that I'm "skeptical" to say the least at the numbers of "uninsured Americans" who CANNOT AFFORD HEALTH INSURANCE as something in the 46 million range and believe the number to be MUCH closer to the 14 million estimated by the GOP. Yes, both Dems and the GOP have political reasons to "fudge" the numbers, but I seriously think that we ought to DEMAND to know where that 46 million number came from; the GOP already explained how they got the 12,000,000 number, because the difference is the same as putting a bandage on a patient or requiring truly radical, experimental surgery.
But I'd still like someone stand up on the Senate floor and say "All federal employees, excluding the Military, must also follow whatever health care law is passed." Period.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Well all you fine folks, this is realwest going off to bed!
I hope you all have a GREAT EVENING/EARLY MORNING and that I get the chance to see you all down the road.

    Good night,all.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Real,

Yep, as soon as every MF in DC earning a paycheck out off of the taxpayer get the "public option" then I'll listen. Till then no thank you.

Back when I was going to Community College, working like a SOB to pay tuition, buy books, put a roof over my head and food in my mouth I got sick with no insurance, spent a couple of days in the hospital and racked up a bunch of bills. I had zero insurance, none, zip, nada.

First I got the treatment, the hospital didn't kick my ass out. They got me well. Then I worked out a payment plan, I still had a couple grand left when I lost my job. I went to the billing dept. of the hospital and ask if I could suspend payments till I got a job. They offered to write the remain debt off.

I know Children's hospital in Seattle will treat every kid that comes through the door to the best of their ability, same with Swedish and other hospitals in the area.

I know getting approval for our foster kids to get care from the State is like pulling teeth. And to get timely care it's easier to pay out of pocket then spend months getting reimbursed. Though for routine care the medical coupons work well.

Obama and the (D)s have to tell fake stories, have (D) operative shills at townhalls to make their points.

The ones asking for the radical make over are lying through their teeth at every turn to take control of health care.

It all adds up, not to health care but to a power grab, the power of life and death over the individual.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Has everyone gone to sleep or are lurkers lurking?

    ReplyDelete
  85. Cleaning out my email...I just got an ad for an "Early Black Friday" sale.

Unbelievable! I wonder if any retailer WILL have a Black Friday this year. So many are operating in the red, bordering on maroon.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Hi ladies! I was installing a firefox add-on for my bookmarks -- it's about time.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Did you mean red, bordering on blood?

    ReplyDelete
  88. I've been watching Devil's Advocate ....NOT a good movie to watch when you're alone in the middle of the night. Scared the bejeesus out of myself.

    *Shudder!*

    ReplyDelete
  89. PINK! :-)

    Blood red, indeed.

I think it was yesterday morning that I linked to an article that said a lot more companies will be going bankrupt or "restructuring" in the next year and a half.

Just a hint of the unemployment numbers to come...

    ReplyDelete
  90. That picture of Helen ↑ is also not good for sitting in front of the computer alone in the middle of the night.

    /Photoshop as a deadly weapon...

    ReplyDelete
  91. Good morning you two. : )

I was creating a graphic for a feature called "Afternoon News Dump" (it'll just be a thread with up-to-date news links), and I was using something I had thought of as a basis for it, and Bare tried to get me to use THIS HELEN THOMAS thing he made.

    No. WAY. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  92. *dump* too funny! LOL

/this probably wasn't the best thread to reveal that, CC

    ReplyDelete
  93. Good morning, CC! What happened to your coffeecup, littleoldlady?

    ReplyDelete
  94. I was cleaning the kitchen and I think it ended up in the dishwasher.

Got a new one. All is well.

    Good morning, gurlz! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  95. When I went to New Orleans two weeks ago I brought my own coffee and ....my own coffee cup, wrapped in a towel. Part of me thinks I may be too set in my ways.. LOL!

I've had them for nearly 15 years and I love them; they fit my hand like a glove. Perfect balance. I have the whole set but my favorite is the fourth one down. A day started with the red flowered cup is always a good day.

Now the world knows my silly ways. :)

    ReplyDelete
  96. There you are, littleoldlady! Where'd CC run off to?

    ReplyDelete
  97. WOW. Careful you don't break that thing, Pink! That's an investment right there.

    ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  98. They're discontinued now which is why they're so much. When I bought them they were about 30.00 for four. I was surprised just now when I looked them up for ya'll.

    ReplyDelete
  99. I was writing you some email, Shrinkie. : )

That coffee cup looks like you!

    What's yours like, lol?

    ReplyDelete
  100. You should put a "want it now" up on ebay, or just search for them every so often. If you are that attached to it, you might want to have a backup.

    /I understand, Pink, really. I do! ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  101. Pinkie, if this blog were just Bare's without my influence, that graphic up there would be your "Afternoon News Dump" graphic. It would. I'm serious. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  102. I've bought stuff like that from Replacements - you know about that place, right?

    ReplyDelete
  103. Oh, duh...that place you linked to links to Replacements!

    ReplyDelete
  104. A couple of years ago I decided to replace my everyday dishes (2 sets previously purchased at Bradlees for $12 FOR BOTH. I miss Bradlees! Sob!) with kind of a basic white set. I think I got 2 sets for $32 at Amazon. Can't find a picture, but the cup is a large heavy mug, at least 12 ounces.

/saves trips upstairs to the kitchen ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  105. Pinkie, if this blog were just Bare's without my influence, that graphic up there would be your "Afternoon News Dump" graphic. It would. I'm serious. LOL

    I don't doubt you for a second. ;-)

Like Squatch said way up there ....it still makes me laugh!

    ReplyDelete
  106. I've SOLD stuff to Replacements. ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  107. You should put a "want it now" up on ebay, or just search for them every so often. If you are that attached to it, you might want to have a backup.

I've had an alert up for them for years. I've picked up a couple many moons ago but it's been a while since I've gotten any. How many cups does a girl really need?

    /don't answer that, you two!

    ReplyDelete
  108. but the cup is a large heavy mug, at least 12 ounces.

Exactly! We need our large mugs.

    ReplyDelete
  109. I've SOLD stuff to Replacements. ;-)

So've I, littleoldlady. For decent money, too. I used to do garage sales regularly and my head used to be like an antique catalogue. I would buy entire sets and pack them all up and ship them to Replacements. Remember Russell Wright dinnerware? I've bought and sold lots of that. I collect Frankoma. Hull and McCoy too.

    ReplyDelete
  110. I sold mostly pre-WWII made in Germany stuff. Rosenthal et al.

    ReplyDelete
  111. I'm closing this one. I'm sure everyone will breathe a sigh of relief. LOL

    ReplyDelete
