Obama wins Nobel Peace Prize to mixed reviews
ReplyDeleteObama's press secretary woke him with the news before dawn and the president felt "humbled" by the award, a senior administration official said.
/he should be embarrassed, or at least someone should be embarrassed
Will CNN be fact-checking the alleged list of accomplishments that merited this award, or are they too busy schooling SNL for daring to criticize Teh One?

99 Red Balloons singer Nena in Damanhur naked time travel sect
ReplyDeleteTHE pop star behind the '80s smash Red Balloons has become mixed up with a cult which boasts it possesses a working time machine - which can only be used nude.
German singer Nena, whose song caused a storm Down Under in 1984, is so keen on Italy's Damanhur sect that she printed its symbol on her new album, Bild newspaper reports.
Sect founder Oberto Airaudi boasts he can implant spirits into newborn babies - and developed his own time machine.
The only problem is the machine cannot transport clothing, meaning time travellers have to climb in completely naked.

ReplyDeleteBIGGEST LOAD OF CRAP EVER:
ReplyDeleteThe Nobel Peace Prize for 2009
The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided that the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009 is to be awarded to President Barack Obama for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples. The Committee has attached special importance to Obama's vision of and work for a world without nuclear weapons.
Obama has as President created a new climate in international politics. Multilateral diplomacy has regained a central position, with emphasis on the role that the United Nations and other international institutions can play. Dialogue and negotiations are preferred as instruments for resolving even the most difficult international conflicts. The vision of a world free from nuclear arms has powerfully stimulated disarmament and arms control negotiations. Thanks to Obama's initiative, the USA is now playing a more constructive role in meeting the great climatic challenges the world is confronting. Democracy and human rights are to be strengthened.
Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future. His diplomacy is founded in the concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the world's population.
For 108 years, the Norwegian Nobel Committee has sought to stimulate precisely that international policy and those attitudes for which Obama is now the world's leading spokesman. The Committee endorses Obama's appeal that "Now is the time for all of us to take our share of responsibility for a global response to global challenges."

ReplyDeleteBarack Obama adviser says Sharia Law is misunderstood
ReplyDeletePresident Barack Obama's adviser on Muslim affairs, Dalia Mogahed, has provoked controversy by appearing on a British television show hosted by a member of an extremist group to talk about Sharia Law.
Miss Mogahed, appointed to the President's Council on Faith-Based and Neighbourhood Partnerships, said the Western view of Sharia was "oversimplified" and the majority of women around the world associate it with "gender justice".
The White House adviser made the remarks on a London-based TV discussion programme hosted by Ibtihal Bsis, a member of the extremist Hizb ut Tahrir party.
The group believes in the non-violent destruction of Western democracy and the creation of an Islamic state under Sharia Law across the world.

A dawg’s sense of smell never ceases to amaze turn. Yesterday on our walk along the American the boob sniffed out an old, old tennis ball in a very desolate location. You would have never expected a tennis ball to end up there; it must have floated down from upriver some where. For some reason this summer he has taken to hunting tennis balls, forget about the stick. He learned the sooner he finds one the sooner he gets to play fetch. If he finds one soon enough he gets to play on the way to the river, at the river, and on the way back from the river. Hell it doesn’t stop there; he gets to play with the ball when he gets back home too. So after getting back home and hanging up his lead I turned around and, as expected, he had that ball right there smack dab in the middle of the patio and had assumed the fetch position over by spa. Anybody who has ever had a lab knows the look … eyes wide open with an intense stare, ears perked up, head down low, paws spread apart, wagging tail. So I bend down to pick up the ball and it’s not the old ball we found at the river, it’s a new one. He sniffed out a newer one on the trail back and decided to upgrade! Damn dog, too funny. Oh morning all, did Dianna show up?

ReplyDeleteThe media contiunues to rewrite history and turn facts upside down...
ReplyDelete"The award appeared to be a slap at President George W. Bush from a committee that harshly criticized Obama's predecessor for his largely unilateral military action in the wake of the Sept. 11 terror attacks. The Nobel committee praised Obama's creation of "a new climate in international politics" and said he had returned multilateral diplomacy and institutions like the U.N. to the center of the world stage."
Fact check time: The US lead mission to overthrow the Taliban was endorsed & authorized by the UN, endorsed by NATO, and supported by contributions from over 40 countries. How is that unilateral?
The liberation of Iraq was endorsed & supported by a "Coalition of the Willing" and included contributions from more that 30 countries. How is that unilateral?
Ongoing US operations by the US lead GWOT were endorsed & supported by more than 60 countries in places ranging from Mauritania, the Horn of Africa, Indonesia, and the Philippines. How is that unilateral?
On the subject of the North Korean nuclear weapons program, the US joined in 6 Party talks
including North Korea, South Korea, Japan, China & Russia. How is that unilateral?
On the subject of the Iranian nuclear weapons program, the US joined in multiparty talks involving the UN, the EU, Russia, the Gulf States and Iran. How is that unilateral?
And now along comes Obama who pledges to hold direct unconditional talks with the rulers of Iran & North Korea, cutting out US allies, who snubs European contributions to the GWOT, who sells out new US allies in eastern Europe to appease Russia, and who undermines Israel to flatter the Arabs for empty rhetorical concessions. How is that "multilateral"?
Oh man, I need a fucking drink already.

Did the First Dog Leave a Number Two on Air Force One?
ReplyDeleteThe mystery begins in a Pittsburgh bar where several high-flying airline types met last month.
The group swapped stories over drinks when three people present let loose with a good tale. Bo, the presidential puppy, recently left a present on the presidential jet, they said, and a flight attendant had nearly stepped in it.
“You can imagine the horror on board when they discovered what it had done,” a participant in the conversation said, referring to Bo.
Reports of other puppy-like behavior support the story. At least two reporters spotted Bo running loose aboard Air Force One this summer. News stories say he chews socks, magazines and the presidential sneakers. In an NBC television interview around the time of the alleged accident, President Barack Obama said Bo has chosen notable venues in the past.
“We go out and we’re walking and I’m picking up poop, and in the background is the beautifully lit White House,” the president said. “It’s quite a moment.”
A White House press official was certain—the scoop on the poop was a crock. The press office checked with the Air Force One flight crew who said Bo had not desecrated the jet.
. . .
But we were nagged by a question—was the pile denial a White House cover up?
The source of the story refused to recant. A press officer for the 89th Airlift Wing, which includes Air Force One, had no comment. A government airline carpet contractor didn’t return calls.
Then a new source emerged: Herb McConnell, former public affairs officer for Andrews Air Force Base, home of Air Force One. McConnell thought the story was “funny,” “logical,” and “not as bad as some I’ve heard.”
According to McConnell, he checked with two contacts in the 89th Airlift Wing. Both separately confirmed Bo’s youthful indiscretion, although neither of them would speak directly with Washington Wire.
“Of course the dog accident on Air Force One happened,” McConnell contends. But the 89th won’t go public with it, he said, because it is strict Air Force policy not to discuss passengers’ activities.
The White House stands by its denial. And Bo isn’t talking.
Oh sure, blame the dog. If it was a simple puppy "poop accident", why is the White House stonewalling?
/you know, it's not like there weren't plenty of other potential suspects on the plane at the time
The libs are going to be insufferable gloating that Teh Won has been chosen by the (hushed tones of reverence)"Nobel Committee".

From Mr. Brogan at the UK Telegraph-
ReplyDelete-They could have awarded it to Kylie Minogue and I wouldn’t have been half as surprised as I am watching the television screens around me proclaiming that Barack Obama has been awarded the 2009 Nobel peace prize. The whole business of a bunch of Scandinavian worthies doling out the profits of a long-gone dynamite maker’s fortune has always smacked of the worst sort of self-satisfied plutocratic worthiness. But this takes the biscuit. President Obama remains the barely man of world politics, barely a senator now barely a president, yet in the land of the Euro-weenies (copyright PJ O’Rourke) the great and the good remain in his thrall. To reward him for a blank results sheet, to inflate him when he has no achievements to his name, makes a mockery of what, let’s face it, is an already fairly discredited process (remember Rigoberta Menchu in 1992? Ha!). That’s not the point. What this does is accelerate the elevation of President Obama to a comedy confection, which he does not deserve, and gives his critics yet another bat to whack him with. Shame on the Swedes Norwegians*. He should turn it down, even if he does look great in white tie and tails.

Tata Motors raises $750 million to pay down Jaguar debt
ReplyDeleteTata Motors ?
I'm in the DC area. My wife won't play cribbage, it's too much like Fizzbin to her.
ReplyDeleteI've motorboated some Tatas in my time. I hope I don't owe part of that $750 million.
ReplyDeleteYeah turn. Learned to play at my grandfathers knee so to speak. Been playing cribbage since I have been 8. Best line I used in college was "I have been playing crib since you were in diapers". My heart crashed when I realized that the girl I said it to was....
ReplyDeleteI'll be out in DC in January and will drop you a comment here. Staying at the Wardman Park Marriot for a few days.

ReplyDeleteU.S. forces leave east Afghanistan area after attack
ReplyDeleteThe pullout was announced before the October 3 attack, but the assault has drawn fresh attention to a new U.S. strategy to move troops out of remote areas and focus more on populated districts.
There's a new strategy ?
I thought it was still collecting dust on O's desk, awaiting his stunning revelation.
Maybe Reuters knows....

who blue?
ReplyDeleteSOS, have you heard a number for the Taliban killed in that attack where we lost 8 men?
ReplyDeleteIrony: A Prize for Creating Weimar America
ReplyDeletePresident Obama richly deserves his prize. No one has done more for the cause of false Euro-peace (appeasement leading to war) than he has, not even James Carter. I spoke to my cousin (who voted for him and now regrets his choice very much) and his comment sums it up, "He hasn't done ANYTHING."
But he has. In nine months, Obama has:
- managed to all but lose the war in Afghanistan
-tossed Israel and Eastern Europe to the wolves
- let North Korea break its international obligations without any punishment
- backed an anti-American leftist in his efforts to over through the rule of law in Honduras and replace it with a Castro-Chavista leftist dictatorship
- threw Israel under the bus five times and set back any hopes for peace with the Palestinians by 10 years
- reached and even loosened sanctions on the terror sponsoring murdering slime that run Syria (and gotten nothing for that)
- kow-towed to Putin’s new Russian imperial ambitions
- sucked up to the Chinese by tossing the Dalai Lama under the bus
- cut US defense in the face of modernizing enemies
- surrendered US pre-eminence in world affairs for a few sound bites
- let the dollar crash through his feckless economic leadership
The nuclear cherry in this fecal sundae of failure, he has failed to check Iran's nuclear weapons program in any meaningful way (if anyone tells you Iran just wants nuclear energy, just slap them it is simpler than trying to explain that peaceful nuclear programs don't have ballistic missile programs and facilities tunneled into mountains) he has abjectly and stupidly let the Ayatollahs humiliate the western powers without any response while the now completely illegitimate regime stole the June 12th election, butchers opponents in their jails and sponsors terrorist groups all over the world. Obama has let the chance to destroy the regime from within fall through our fingers, he even CUT the budget of a human rights organization opposed to the regime to earn the good intentions of the Ayatollahs. Apparently, US policy is the Mullahs have more of a right to flaunt treaty violations than Iranian families have to not get bills for the bullets the Regime used to murder their children.
Let us be very clear: John McCain would not have done any of this.
But Barry did give a great sounding speech in Cairo blaming America for all that is wrong in the world because we all know that everything in 90% of the states heading from Casablanca due east would just be peachy if American imperialism hadn't made the Islamic world the case book example of failed human development on the planet.
Clearly the world functions the way he believes it does or the way I do. It is one or the other. If a massive world war breaks out, and I think we are on the verge of WWIII, then Obama and his leftist kumbaya sophistry is forever shown to be the brilliant ideas that Orwell said only idiots could believe; if world tensions decrease and international relations become smooth with great progress emerging from the new international order, I will admit I am wrong.
Look for Sudan to stop helicoptering the Janjaweed to Darfur to murder defenseless villagers and Osama bin Laden will declare an end to his Jihad because America has repented.
To those with your "I Got This" posters of Obama. He has got it. He has his Nobel Peace Prize and it will either go on the shelf next to Arafat's, where I think it belongs, as a symbol how leftist ideology crushed the western world through ideological auto castration and policy suicide or he will emerge a triumphant genius who delivered the world into a new era in human relations and governance.
cont.
There have been many well earned Nobel’s over the years, Medecin Sans Frontiers, Lech Walesa, Eli Weisel, Norman Bourlag, Mother Theresa, Martin Luther King and many of the other winners truly deserved their prizes but mixed in with greatness are the likes of the sociopathic liar Rigoberta Menchu, M.S. Gorbachev, The American Friends Service Committee (a Soviet front group since the 30s), Arafat and Jimmy Carter.
ReplyDeleteThe economy lost 521000 jobs last month; Obama's domestic policies are not working too well and the Republicans, if they had any leadership, should be putting together a platform for 2010 that promises to restore US economic leadership through fiscal responsibility, energy independence and national security.
The future will reveal the true value of Obama’s work. But if you are a betting person, consider that James Earl Carter, the philosopher-king whose ideas greatly align with Obama’s is the wimp who let Iran collapse into the current Islamic Republic, let the Sandinistas establish a Soviet Republic in Nicaragua, was so much of a chump that Russia was confident the US would do nothing while they set off an arms race and invaded Afghanistan; Carter let a US Embassy be held hostage by a bunch of criminals for 444 days.
This prize is a symbol of a great lie, the worst is yet to come and his fellow useful idiots will honor him for the coming disasters.
I think I still have it.
ReplyDelete@Spenser: Hear, hear!
