Axelrod meets with Ailes

White House officials have expressed pique with what they consider heavy coverage of Obama critics by opinion shows on the news channel.

Obama aides showed their displeasure by omitting “Fox News Sunday” when the president granted interviews last month to the other Sunday shows.

AP Poll: Health care overhaul has a pulse

The latest Associated Press-GfK poll has found that opposition to Obama's health care remake dropped dramatically in just a matter of weeks. Still, Americans remain divided over complex legislation that Democrats are advancing in Congress.

State-Run Health Plans Garner Support

But one key Republican in the debate, Maine Sen. Olympia Snowe, cast doubt on the Carper idea. She favors creating a federally run health plan as a fallback option that would come into force only if other changes to the system fail to expand coverage as expected. "A fallback can work and would work, in the event the private insurance industry failed to produce results," she said.

Republican leaders oppose a public plan and co-ops, saying both would encourage a government takeover of health care instead of harnessing market forces to reduce costs and improve quality.

DOJ Won't Seek Death Penalty For Guantanamo Detainee

NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Federal prosecutors said Monday that they won't seek the death penalty in the criminal case against Ahmed Ghailani, the first detainee from Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to face prosecution in the U.S.

In a letter filed Monday, prosecutors from the U.S. Attorney's office in Manhattan said they had been directed by U.S. Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. not to seek the death penalty against Ghailani...[excerpted - subscription required to continue]
What to Do With Hamas? Question Snarls Peace Bid
In the two years since it seized power here, the militant Hamas movement has undercut the influence of the Gaza Strip's major clans, brought competing paramilitary groups under its control, put down an uprising by a rival Islamist group, weathered a three-week war with Israel, worked around a strict economic embargo -- and through it all refused a set of international demands that could begin Gaza's rehabilitation.

DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. - It was a historical day on the flightline here, as the last KC-135E model touched down after its final flight.

The aircraft, which served the Air Force for more than 50 years, will now spend its days basking in the sun in the 'Boneyard' and providing much needed parts to the rest of the fleet.

    Obama 'rules out' Afghan cutbacks

US President Barack Obama has said his review of Afghan strategy will not look at pulling out or cutting troop levels.

Mr Obama told key members of Congress that he would decide on a course of action with a sense of urgency - but that not everyone would be pleased.

But a source said he did not pledge to increase troop numbers as his top general in Afghanistan wants.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/8293558.stm

Link contains a map of current troop deployments around the country. Gosh, shouldn't we maybe be trying to keep that stuff... I dunno... like, secret or something?

I give partial credit to Obama for at least, for now, resisting calls to cut and run.

    1. Obama said he wrote it. That means he lied.

    2. The book was praised as a brilliant piece of literature and launched his campaign to the White House. Thousands of people have admitted to becoming his supporters on the strength of that book alone. If Ayers wrote it, then Obama is a liar, not as smart as he pretended to be, and exploited people.

Follow the link for the Examiner’s theory that being denied proper credit for the president’s book — which was published almost 15 years ago — may have finally triggered Ayers’s megalomania such that he could no longer suppress the truth during … a chance encounter with a blogger in an airport.
