I cannot condemn the Obama foreign policy at this stage. There are a few cases where it is spectacularly wrong and there are areas where we can afford to give it time.
I support the fact that he has embraced reality about GITMO and Iraq. I assume we should all just forget his campaign rhetoric. The fact that leftist politicians blatantly lie about their foreign policy positions during the campaign is a problem for that side to figure out on their own.
Obama's 'apologizing' costs us nothing and may bring some dividends even if it sounds unseemly. The television is a remarkable power especially in undeveloped countries without access to multiple sources. Walk softly and carry a big stick HAS worked in the past.
Iran is a difficult problem. It is a big, populous, mountainous country. It will eventually develop nuclear technology as will all countries of similar size and resources. But Iran is a bitter tyranny and most be opposed primarily for its tyranny and not its pursuit of scientific or industrial capacity. A democratic Iran, at peace with itself and its neighbors, should be our goal.
The administration is wrong on Honduras.
The fundamental issue is individual liberty. It is always THE issue. Everything else pails in comparison.
