You cannot make this stuff up!

She blamed her predecessor: "I don't think it's fair to judge me, as I'm cleaning up a previous administration."

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

    Now that's original!

  15. Good one, Son of Black Dog!

    Goodnight :-)

  16. I read that earlier, Pink.

I have never been in the Navy. But, if for some reason, I became a pirate...I think I would try to avoid ships with big guns on them...but, that's just me

  21. I think the article says it's was some sort of supply ship....with guns and actual sailors onboard...not quite the "easy pickins" the pirates were hoping for eh?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Couldn't we have saved the Helen Thomas picture above for a post much closer to Halloween?

  32. Good evening y'all - have a little time before I must crash and thought I'd come over and spend it with y'all!
I did notice that my buddy Tfc3rd made mention of the Republicans going "wobbly" on Health Care. And iirc, he said he had it on good authority.
Well I have to - at least this time - disagree with him. Despite the BEST EFFORTS of the Dems to portray the TeaParty folks as nuts and all, I know my congresscritter in the House, Sue Myrick (R-NC) has promised that the only way she'd ever support any sort of healthcare reform would be if ALL federal employees had to abide by whatever new law gets presented. And Richard Burr (R-NC)who, like Myrick, is up for re-election this coming year said something similar and also went further - he said that the American People are tired of a government run by LEFTISTS who not only don't care about what the American People want, but don't frankly TRUST the American people to know what's best for them.
And he called that "absolute bullshit" and yes he did use the word Bullshit!
It ain't over until the fat lady sings - in fact, I have it on at least decent authority that if the Leftists try the "nuclear Option" of going to simple majority votes that they won't get 51 in the Senate and there's some indication that getting 51% in the House isn't such a sure thing either.
And if all y'all would like to do something about it, write to your congresscritters - House and Senate, D or R, and point out to them that THEY have said, through Obama, that there are 48 million Americans who can't afford health insurance, which perforce means that there are 282 million Americans - or 80% who CAN and to TOTALLY REMAKE OUR health insurance and healthcare delivery systemS in this country in a way that WILL BENEFIT the 20% TO THE DETRIMENT of the 80% may be math that appeals to the LEFT, but to anyone with even just a half a brain, it makes absolutely no sense at all. And anyone in Congress who votes for such a STUPID and UNFAIR treatment of the OVERWHELMING MAJORITY OF AMERICANS will face their wrath at the voting booth.

Glad to see ya' I might need a lawyer Pi Guy and CC are accusing me of threadicide!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Hi Killian! In that wiki article about Q ships I was struck by something that was missing - the German Q ships used during WWII to sink enemy (Ours and Great Britan's mostly) merchant ships; built similar to the way they were described in Wiki, the MOST FAMOUS Q ship of all was the German Q ship ATLANTIS. She was armored and had heavier fire power than did allied destroyer escorts and indeed Destroyers themselves, and would try to weave their way into the middle of convoys drop all the easily removable "camoflauge" and blast the Merchants ships out of the water and not a few destroyer or destoryer escorts as well. When the Americans and British discovered how formidible the German Q boats were, they started sending Cruisers with convoys to take out the Q boats.
The Q boats would, thereafter, avoid the cruiser guarded convoys and pick off stragglers or those merchant ships who's captains felt safer being on their own than in a convoy.

    ReplyDelete
  36. And in furtherance of my last post about German Q ships and especially of the Atlantis, please see :http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_auxiliary_cruiser_Atlantis
She sank something like 22 allied ships during her career, totaling 144,384 tons.

  37. Thugs attack two transvestites... who turn out to be cage fighters wearing fancy dress

Two thugs who attacked what they thought were a pair of transvestites picked on the wrong men - when their intended victims turned out to be cage fighters on a night out in fancy dress.

Dean Gardener, 19, and Jason Fender, 22, singled out the two men walking along a street in wigs, short skirts and high heels.

Bare-chested Gardener was caught on CCTV confronting one of the men in a pink wig, black skirt and boob tube - then seen swinging a punch, a court heard.

  44. I don't get what's different about the new bill with the new numbers and what's been thrown around previously, which we accepted was a disaster in every sense of the word.

  45. I am BatGuano. How the hell do I log onto this thing. I just found about it yesterday.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Well, I guess I am logged in. I will have to adjust my profile since I don't seem to have one.
I was a poster on the other site until about 3 weeks ago. I was wondering where everyone went.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Bat, hi! Nice to see you!

If you click on your profile (try clicking on the little "b" by your name unless there's something in the upper right of your screen), I think it will take you to a place where you can "edit picture" (look on the left side where the generic picture is displayed) - from there, you can add an avatar.

On the "edit profile" page, you can scroll down and change your display name if you want to add "Guano" to it.

If that doesn't work, let me know and I'll look into how to do it. (I'm going from memory here.)

    ReplyDelete
  48. Oh! You found the display name thingy. Cool. : )

    ReplyDelete
  49. Yeah, I'm figuring it out bit by bit.Thank you for the welcome!

    ReplyDelete
  50. So, Bat - how've you been? It slows down to a crawl about this time of night, but it'll pick up for fruit cup (at 2:00AM PST).

    ReplyDelete
  51. Pi Guy and littleoldlady are usually in the 'hood about this time (Pink Freud ordinarily is too, but she's got to be up early in the morning); they should be around shortly.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Hey, CC. I've been fine. Been Jonesin' for fruit cup since August. It would be nice to hear from lol and Pi guy and the rest.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Disparaging remarks about other online communities, or their members, should be made elsewhere if...

    sounds good to me.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Are you able to be around during the day much, Bat? It really hums around here in the morning. JCM, Occasional Reader, realwest, Old Line Texan, turn, Army Wife, redstateredneck, doppleganglander, Wendy, Kenneth, Desert Dog, Desert Sage, Shug - just way too many to name...I think you'd recognize just about everybody. It's really fun!

Feel free to browse some older threads if you get bored on this one. Fruit cup will pop up in an hour and ten minutes.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Yes, there's another couple of policy statements around...let me link you up to one of them so you can get your groove on. Back in a second.

    ReplyDelete
  56. It really depends on my work schedule. I'll be able to hang out a little bit tomorrow. Funny, I recognize every name!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Here's one for you, Bat.

There's another thread you might want to check out, too...I'll try to find that one also.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Oh, I figured you would! And you have an avatar already - cool. : )

    ReplyDelete
  59. There have been hints about this site elsewhere. I was finally directed here from an unlikely source.
I have no problem being forward looking and I certainly retain no animosity toward any other site. I am just happy to be here.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Am i missing it or is there no ,"reply" function?

    ReplyDelete
  61. Not on blogspot, no, Bat...what we usually do is put things in italics with HTML, or you could do something like this:

Re: "Am i missing it or is there no ,"reply" function?"

Or just use a line to separate your answer from the original text.

We won't be here forever; we're building a custom site at the moment.

(And thanks for being cool with the policy - we've had so few problems with it - like almost NONE - it's really been great. We don't want the old stuff to be what we're focused on...there's other things to do.)

    ReplyDelete
  62. Oh, and what I meant to indicate is that there WILL be reply and quote functions on the new site.

    ReplyDelete

  66. Pi Guy is on staff here, Bat - he's going to manage the history forum on the new site. (If you're curious what we'll be doing, a few threads down you can see what we're planning - just look for a graphic with eight mini logos on it.)
