  3. Well, I don't know about that. I think it would be more notable if I was LATE for work.

/OCD about being on time for everything...

  4. Not me. I must be EARLY.

That kind of stuff is funny. If you're perpetually late you're inconsiderate. Always early means you're insecure. And 100% on time means you're compulsive.

Unless you vary your tactics...YOU CANNOT WIN! ;-)

  5. littleoldlady, in response to the gun question last thread, 12 guage is a bit powerful. You just have to prepare for it. You can also get lighter loads for it so you can work your way up.

I have learned never to count this particular Phillies team out. First of all they're a real TEAM! (And we're truly not used to that around here.) Second, they never give up or get demoralized. A loss just spurs them to a greater win the next time out.

Still, I can't help but feel...WE ARE NOT WORTHY! ;-)

  17. Still, I can't help but feel...WE ARE NOT WORTHY! ;-)

I told the better half they were going to win that game against the Rockies even being down 2 runs in the 9th. They never give up.
All I can say is it is about damn time.
The most losses ever by a Pro sports team, over 10K, some heartbreaking losses (think Mitch).
Used to be when we'd say at least we're not the Cubbies.

1903 – Tor Johnson, Swedish wrestler and actor (d. 1971)

Among his acting roles, "Plan 9 From Outer Space"

    1945 – Divine, American actor (d. 1988)
1967 – Amy Carter, daughter of US President Jimmy Carter
1969 – John Edward, American TV Psychic

    Hmmm. Infamy.

1958 – Michael Steele, American political figure

  71. ...and WTH happened to the Eagles yesterday?

It wasn't that the Raiders looked good, although JaHeartbreak Russell had moments where he actually looked like he was qualified to be a second string QB instead of a power forward for the Washington Generals. But that's no reason for the Eagle defense to fold up like a cheap suit play after play.

Sure Oakland DE Richard Seymour played out of his head, but he wasn't going against a starter for most of the game, and one would think the brain trust of Reid and McNabb would know how to deal with that sort of thing or at least figure it out inside of 60 minutes.

I know the Raider locker room was all fired up and indignant about the (much deserved) "felt like a scrimmage" comments after the NY Giants game/debacle last week, but really...

That wasn't the Raiders playing better then they really are, that was the Eagles playing and being coached far worse then they really are. All game long.

    ===

Thanks to the inscrutable mysteries of NFL TV scheduling I actually got to see a Raider game broadcast on free TV in the DC area (Yay Foxsports!) - on a channel that actually comes through the digital box with minimal pixalization. That only seems to happen once a decade. I understand the game was blacked out in Oakland though.

    That's a rule I've never understood.

Lets punish those fans who cannot afford tickets because those who can afford them won't buy them because the team sucks. But only sometimes and only certain teams...

Tuck rule my ass, Tom Brady fumbled.

    US offers 'incentives' to Sudan

The US has offered Sudan "incentives" in return for "verifiable changes" on the ground, in an apparent softening of its stance on the African nation.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said the US remained focused on reversing the "ongoing dire human consequences of genocide" in the Darfur region.

Apparently, these are sekrit insentivs, because the BBC failed to mention what any of them are.

And once again, a thug regime will get rewarded for brutality.

However, the word "drug" if often used as a scare tactic -- people never refer to alcohol, nicotine, or caffeine as drugs except when they're demonizing them. The fact that something is or isn't a "drug" is not in itself proof that something should or shouldn't be legal.
