Good morning, fruit fressers!
ReplyDeleteGood morning, Lady of the Fruitcup!
ReplyDeleteDamn, off to the dictionary.
ReplyDeleteBetter find a Yiddish one! ;-)
ReplyDeleteess = eat
fress = pig out!
When Callahan shows up we can get the German version of the word. If there is one.
ReplyDeleteYep, the Yiddish dictionary agrees with you.
ReplyDeleteI thought the Germans had a word for everything, and then some.
ReplyDeleteThat's nice...since I do believe my family invented the term! ;-)
ReplyDelete/verb AND noun!
I don't know German. To tell the truth (please keep my secret!) I don't know much Yiddish either.
ReplyDeleteI CAN, however, curse a blue streak in archaic Hungarian...
One day, before I die, I should like to hear that.
ReplyDeleteLOL!
One day, before HE died, one of my uncles translated what I was saying into English for me.
ReplyDeleteOMG!
/I used to be such a NICE girl! ;-)
This is the stuff that my mother's been yelling at me since I was a baby!?
Oh boy, fruitcup!
ReplyDeleteMorning Pink, Lol.
Hello, goodmorning, enuff :) How are you this fine morning?
ReplyDeleteenuff! :-)
ReplyDeleteI just had a posting glitch. "Conflict." it said.
ReplyDeleteCurse you, Blogspot!
Fourteen posts already? Sheesh! (I had that msg too, lol.)
ReplyDeleteThat kiwi looks really good.
ReplyDeleteTesting new avatar.
ReplyDeleteDang!
ReplyDeleteKiwi is the one thing I am very happy to give away.
ReplyDeleteBon appetit!
My horrorscope for today:
ReplyDeleteToday your mind might be very much on social and political issues, and if you are not currently involved with groups dealing with these issues, you might be considering joining one.
LOL!
I think I had some issues with the avatar business when I started using Blogger. I think you have to manage your blogs (if you can find that), and add it to your display by looking at your C2 profile.
ReplyDeleteOr, I'm talking out of my ass. : )
I am not able to "manage my blogs". :-( I don't know if it's me or blogspot. Everything has to accessed separately.
ReplyDelete/it's probably me...
Here's what you do.
ReplyDeleteGo to your dashboard.
Scroll down to your reading list. Click the "manage" button.
Find this blog, click "settings"
Add a picture there.
Swear at me 'cause it didn't work. ; )
I concur with astrologer.com, littleoldlady ....I think you should consider joining a political discussion group. I think I know just the place!:)
ReplyDeleteGoodnight all, I'm out .....weet dreams, all.
/oh wait, that's me ...ya'll are all starting your day ...
Thanks, C2 ..I will try that in a few hours. Goodnight. :-)
ReplyDelete'Night PINK! :-)
ReplyDeleteCC,
ReplyDeleteOhhh! So YOU are the one I should be blaming for all my own inadequacies!
People are still protesting in the streets of Iran
ReplyDeleteRacists, obviously. Let's ignore them.
Okay, well I did it a different way.
ReplyDeleteI clicked on my name up there in the list, selected edit profile, scrolled down and removed the picture I had and changed it to that one up a couple of posts that I'm now going to remove, so if you want to see my mug...LOOK NOW, 'cause it's going away!
Those people in Iran have some guts.
ReplyDeleteOh hahahah - it doesn't show that picture, it shows this one! [HITS SELF IN HEAD.] I'm still removing it.
ReplyDeleteI am too tired to be doing this. LOL
CC,
ReplyDeleteThey're incredible! Considering the consequences they suffer when caught/arrested...
How many Americans would do that?
Now I think I have to say good night to Pinkie again...good night Pinkie!!!
ReplyDeleteBLAME BLOGSPOT.
ReplyDelete/works for me! ;-)
I followed your directions to the letter, CC. Let's see if it works (and then I am leaving!)
ReplyDeleteNice mug, CC. LOL!
ReplyDeleteGoodnight everyone!
Ho hum. This is front page news in the NYTimes? Amadinnerjacket says this *every* week.
ReplyDeleteYAY!!! WE DID IT!!! (Maybe we'll be able to help someone else who is having trouble.)
ReplyDeleteOh, that is SO kewl! LOVE. IT.
ReplyDeleteGoodnight, PINK!
CC,
ReplyDeleteI would like to suggest that you help realwest with his avatar next. He's taking it personal. ;-)
/he has NO IDEA how long your "help me!" list is...
The stunning, total defeat of ACORN (by Byron York, The Washington Examiner.
ReplyDeleteThe ACORN vote in the House is stunning news. Just 48 hours after Republican Leader John Boehner introduced the "Defund ACORN Act," the bill -- which most Republicans thought Democrats would do anything to block -- passed by a resounding 345-75 vote. It would never have made it to a vote had not the Democratic leadership decided to allow it, and the winning total included 172 Democrats. Yes, 172 House Democrats voted to totally cut off funding for an organization that has worked for years on behalf of Democrats nationwide.
Couple that with the 83-7 Senate vote to cut off housing funds to ACORN -- a number that included 50 Democrats -- and the votes signal the complete collapse of Democratic support for ACORN. The job is not anywhere near finished -- the Senate still has to consider a total-cutoff bill, introduced just today by Sen. Mike Johanns, and a conference committee has to come up with a final bill that President Obama signs. At any step of the way, Democrats might decide to resume defending ACORN or give it federal support by other means. But as of today there are on-the-record votes of large majorities of House and Senate Democrats in favor of cutting off funds for ACORN.
Although Republicans had long fought against ACORN, it is not an exaggeration to say that none of this would have happened now without the BigGovernment undercover videos. Democrats who in the past had reflexively supported ACORN ran for cover after seeing ACORN employees encouraging tax evasion and prostitution. The BigGovernment videos mark an important moment in the development of alternative media sources, and official Washington responded before most of the establishment press did. This is truly an extraordinary series of events.
Thank you for the avatar, CC! Nite!
ReplyDelete/kewl, eh, littleoldlady?
Who says journalism is dead?
ReplyDelete/btw, I am NOT saying goodnight to you again...
My dear realwest...I have already made him an avatar, but I can't upload it to his account. : )
ReplyDelete(In the new place we can, but here, we can't.)
It won't be long now. Plus, he's gotta get his name back anyway. What's his new name? 6449oh39f874?
(LOVE YA, REALWEST.)
6449oh39f874? WHA?!
ReplyDeleteWhoa. My rep (Sestak) voted to defund ACORN?!
ReplyDelete/can you tell he's running against Specter in the primaries? ;-)
Oh, did you miss that? He uses Typepad, and the last time he was on a thread, it had him logged in with his account but the name it displayed on the threads was a big long number.
ReplyDeleteI asked somebody, "Who is 66972of79654?" LOL
If you clicked on it, it said 'realwest'.
Ahhhhh...why does this stuff have to be so complicated? It WAS working for him earlier.
Here is the roll call.
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed! I think mine did too, but there were some in this area who didn't.
ReplyDeleteGuess who.
His nickname is "Baghdad Jim".
The problem with this...is it software (blogspot)?...is that when you think you have something working it unworks unexpectedly.
ReplyDelete/ONE of the problems, I should say...
Is that McDermott?
ReplyDeleteYeah, that's him.
ReplyDeleteHe's like the Pete Stark of the North.
I can't tell you how many times I've been composing something, and it looks fine, then I go preview and it looks DIFFERENT. I go back and move a couple of things, preview, and it looks DIFFERENT.
ReplyDeleteI've finally figured out that I just have to go into the HTML side when that happens. There's just no other way.
Otherwise I think I'd grind my teeth to nubs. : )
Well, dear lol, I am going to have to go to sleep so I can get up before noon and start plugging away around here. : )
ReplyDeleteHave a good fruit cup! Your (other) adoring fans should be rolling in soon!! Say hello to 6449oh39f874 if he shows up. LOL
'Night, littleyounglady!
Lucky you. :-(
ReplyDeleteSestak is bad enough, thankyouverymuch, but he's trying to differentiate himself from Specter for the upcoming primary. The interesting thing is he's acting more like a Republican in the process.
Fine. It's okay. I'm getting used to living in the Twilight Zone. ;-)
'Night, CC! :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for all of your help!
Good morning all. Grabbing fruitcup and coffee. Stayed up way too late last night.
ReplyDeleteHiya Phil! :-)
ReplyDeleteYour timing is impeccable! I was about to start talking to myself...
Hi lttleoldlady. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, has an invite gone out to afrocity? I know she was one of the banned.
Well would you mind if I sent her a heads up at least, if not an outright invitation? Connected to her on facebook.
ReplyDeleteVDH's Rules for Non-Radicals.
ReplyDeleteDon’t call anyone a Nazi or brown shirt. Avoid shouting down a public official. Remember that there usually aren’t clear good and bad political choices, just bad and worse ones. Don’t get outraged at a slur against your team if you once made the same sort of one against the opposition.
And, most of all, remember that while we’re shouting at each other, the country is at war and piling up debt at the rate of $2 trillion a year — while plenty of rivals and enemies abroad are smiling as never before.
Phil,
ReplyDeleteCan I answer you later? I'll leave a message on Facebook if I don't see you here, okay?
Okay, you will be able to catch me here most of the day. Won't be on facebook till late tonight. :)
ReplyDeleteFamily email system just fired up, sorry! We have two aunts in the hospital, one on either side, so I have two sets of Cousins' Clubs to answer.
ReplyDeleteAs usual, I'm Information Central.
/you would think that my-cousin-the-doctor would be primary contact...but you would be wrong. :-/
Phil,
ReplyDeleteDoes Afrocity have a website? Can you give me the URL, please?
Very interesting article about health care reform, and what knowledge citizens need to have to make an informed judgment.
ReplyDeleteNevermind...I think I found it.
ReplyDeleteSorry about that. Got distracted. Afrocity's website is Autograped Letter Signed. Should have all sorts of details on there as well. Yochanan and Bellamags are frequent visitors and commentors.
ReplyDeletetime to get ready for work. Will say bye before I leave.
ReplyDeleteOkay. Thanks, Phil. :-)
ReplyDeleteWell...it seems the Hofstra rape accuser made up the whole story. That's a relief.
ReplyDeleteFriends, I hope none of you work for a bank... :-(
ReplyDeleteWHOOPSIE! Criminally insane killer disappears from fair. Since when do prisons have field trips?!
ReplyDeleteAnd I am back, and out. Off to work and I should see you in about an hour. Including anyone else that wakes up. :)
ReplyDeleteDrive (? take the bus?) safe, Phil! :-)
ReplyDeleteI think David Brooks really gets it.
ReplyDeleteThis populist tendency continued through the centuries. Sometimes it took right-wing forms, sometimes left-wing ones. Sometimes it was agrarian. Sometimes it was more union-oriented. Often it was extreme, conspiratorial and rude.
The populist tendency has always used the same sort of rhetoric: for the ordinary people and against the fat cats and the educated class; for the small towns and against the financial centers.
It's not about race. It's American populism.
Good morning LoL. The fruit cup was delicious.
ReplyDeleteI take it this thing is on Pacific time?
LUCIUS! HI!
ReplyDeleteYes it is. :-)
What? Americans say Congress doesn't listen.
ReplyDelete/duh ;-)
Populism -- the Democrat party since 1912 was built on a coalition between the Progressives (i.e., all those Teddy Roosevelt big-government/regulation Republicans) and the Populists (the William Jennings Bryan milquetoasts). The coalition was built by Wilson after the split in the Republican party, and until 1980, the coalition held. Since 1980 the Progressives have dominated, and large chunks of the Populist wing shifted parties.
ReplyDeleteThe bad news is that many of these, even the ones who who claim to oppose "socialism," are, in fact socialists, albeit not of a clearly identifiable Marxist stamp. They represent an older form of utopian socialism, one that has found fertile ground in America. The basic political theory of Populism is anti-capitalist, reactionary, and anarchic. It seeks a return to a pre-industrial idyll, one in which small local communities are the basic political unit. Despite the individualist rhetoric used, Populism proper denegrates the individual in favor of the community; the individual can only find fulfillment by being part of a very close knit moral community. The isolated, autonomous individual is not the goal.
I fear that much of Conservativism has been polluted by the influx of old-school Populism.
FOUR kids! You're a better man than I, Gunga Din!
ReplyDeleteMy one nearly 21-year old is enough to drive me bonkers!
Sorry to hear that about Miquel - I hope he is well.
ReplyDeleteAs for kids, they are now 10, 7, 4 and 18 mos.
I have my hands, arms, and feet full.
And probably not ENOUGH hands, arms and feet!
ReplyDeleteKeninah hora! :-)
/no literal translation available...but that's a good thing :-)
OK -- I've gotta shave and shower and get off to work.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day!
You too, Lucius. WONDERFUL to see you! :-)
ReplyDeleteSo...I have a problem...I need to run out and get a raisin challah before they are all gone. But my neighbor is having a yard sale and my driveway is blocked! :-(
ReplyDeletebbiab. Hopefully...
Good Morning C2ers. I am off in about 20 minutes for another great day at Universal. I hope my feet make it through the day. We are doing Islands of Adventure today. I am told that is better than Studio. Looking forward to the roller coasters. If the lines are long I may pop to say hi from time to time.
ReplyDeleteAnd I am back. littleoldlady, I don't drive and only take the bus when I am lazy or not broke. I WALK to work.
ReplyDelete/have that luxury now that my place of employment is "close".
//35 minutes and I am there...
Good morning Erik. Those kids of yours are going to wear you out before the weekend begins. I hope you don't have a honey do list this weekend.
ReplyDelete'Morning, everybody!
ReplyDeleteJust dropping off the bialys and bagels from Virtual Bakery. Enjoy!
I'll be away over the weekend, but Realwest has agreed to make the deliveries.
Littleoldlady, I haven't seen fruit like this since my daughter's wedding reception a few years back....Good grief, 10 years ago next month!!
Have a great day!
(And thank you, {R}!)
I hope you don't have a honey do list this weekend.

ReplyDelete/*taps monitor screen*
Back from waging war at the bakery...

Good timing...for a change!

ReplyDeleteTell me about it. :-)
ReplyDeleteGot bored and decided to change my avatar. I like how the old one stays after you change it.
ReplyDeleteTGIF.

Hmmmm, things are interesting. Messing around here is definitely fun. Glad this site gave me a kick in the kiester to get moving with some stuff.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry folks...between trying to catch up with cooking and reading some hilarious (email) accounts of Aunt Helen Goes to the Hospital...I'm just not really here this morning.
ReplyDeleteNo problem littleoldlady. Cooking is important, and family follies is even better. I will just have to wait until the west coast wakes up I guess.
ReplyDeleteHey y'all, good morning! This is realwest. I only say that because suddenly, without warning or explanation TypePad stopped posting my comments as from "realwest" and instead by a number!!!
ReplyDeleteHope y'all are doing fine today!
Yeah! more democrats ... one way or another ... idiots ...
ReplyDeletehttp://washingtontimes.com/news/2009/sep/18/obama-ties-immigration-to-health-care-battle/?feat=home_cube_position1
sorry ... too early for me to try to link ...
*** from the article
President Obama said this week that his health care plan won't cover illegal immigrants, but argued that's all the more reason to legalize them and ensure they eventually do get coverage.
He also staked out a position that anyone in the country legally should be covered - a major break with the 1996 welfare reform bill, which limited most federal public assistance programs only to citizens and longtime immigrants.
"Even though I do not believe we can extend coverage to those who are here illegally, I also don't simply believe we can simply ignore the fact that our immigration system is broken," Mr. Obama said Wednesday evening in a speech to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute. "That's why I strongly support making sure folks who are here legally have access to affordable, quality health insurance under this plan, just like everybody else.
Mr. Obama added, "If anything, this debate underscores the necessity of passing comprehensive immigration reform and resolving the issue of 12 million undocumented people living and working in this country once and for all."

But if I persist, I do finally get my comment posted!

To the number formerly known as realwest:
ReplyDeleteSo this is where you've been. You don't call...you don't write...
No, it's not worth getting a google account at this point. I'm just gonna keep muddling though here.
ReplyDeleteHi Kenneth.
Hi Zigzag
Hi Phil.
There is still a goodly amount of fruitcup left and still lots of bagels and bialys which our good friend maudgonne kindly provided. Note however that the bialy's are (urp, sorry!) going fast!
To the number formerly known as realwest,
ReplyDeleteplease check your email
Hey! Who ate all the bialys?

ReplyDeleteHaving to reenter the profile and then copy a set of almost illegible characters for every comment kninda sucks.
ReplyDeleteI live about a hundred miles from New Orleans. I suppose I could run down to the Cafe du Monde and get us some beignets. 'Cept it'd be lunchtime by the time I got back. Better I should go to Manchac and pick up thin fried catfish and maybe some fried softshells for everybody.
ReplyDeleteGotta go ya'll ... work to feed the tax machine ...

New kiosks at SFO first to sell carbon offsets
ReplyDeleteTravelers flying out of San Francisco International Airport can be the first in the nation to wipe away some of the damage their flights wreak on the planet by swiping their credit cards.
On Thursday, the Bay Area's largest airport unveiled three Climate Passport kiosks with touch screens that determine how many pounds of carbon dioxide a trip will produce, calculate the sum an environmentally conscious traveler should contribute to projects in San Francisco and California that help reduce greenhouse gases, then allow fliers to purchase certified carbon offsets.
What a scam.
Let's try some HTML. Okay, blockquote not allowed.
Mmmmm, foood. Think I will buy a sammich from the cafe today. Spoil myself for once.

Hi Everyone. This is really getting old. I may have no choice but to get a google account.
ReplyDeleteTHIS IS REALWEST.
There's still some fruitcup left, I don't have time to check my e-mails now, and look up bialy in wiki, please - it's sort of a flatish,
softer toasted bagel with onion bits and all sorts of good stuff.

That's actually old style printing from back in the day. There used to be rules for when it was used, or that they ran out of the letter s. I will look it up again some day.
Or is correspondence supposed to be misspelled?
ReplyDeleteWe hired some fancy expensive ad agency to come up with that for us. Paid big bucks, too - and they friggin' mispelled it. Can you even believe that?
So, since we had spent all that money, we decided to keep it.
So, welcome to Correfpondence Committe. :)
