Netanyahu: "Have you no shame?"

Go get 'em, Bibi. But wait. There's more:

  3. Erik, there's a longer You Tube vid on HotAir - I'll try to plug it in here. (A big thanks to Ed and Allah for always being on top of things so we don't have to be. ; )

  4. ET, I would pay to hear a reporter ask Carter that question. I have my own thoughts on what the answer really is.

  6. Text of Bibi's speech.

The United Nations was founded after the carnage of World War II and the horrors of the Holocaust. It was charged with preventing the recurrence of such horrendous events.

Nothing has undermined that central mission more than the systematic assault on the truth. Yesterday the President of Iran stood at this very podium, spewing his latest anti-Semitic rants. Just a few days earlier, he again claimed that the Holocaust is a lie.

Last month, I went to a villa in a suburb of Berlin called Wannsee. There, on January 20, 1942, after a hearty meal, senior Nazi officials met and decided how to exterminate the Jewish people. The detailed minutes of that meeting have been preserved by successive German governments. Here is a copy of those minutes, in which the Nazis issued precise instructions on how to carry out the extermination of the Jews. Is this a lie?

Wherever they can, they impose a backward regimented society where women, minorities, gays or anyone not deemed to be a true believer is brutally subjugated. The struggle against this fanaticism does not pit faith against faith nor civilization against civilization.

It pits civilization against barbarism, the 21st century against the 9th century, those who sanctify life against those who glorify death.

  7. What leadership looks like.

Standing for something, challenging others to be better, to do the right thing.

Compare and contrast with groveling, sniveling of a previous speech.

  8. JCM, oh how I wish we had a president who had that kind of moral clarity.

He just aimed right at it.

  9. He aimed right at it.

    And hit the 10 ring.

Beautiful. I live for the day I hear similar words come from the mouth of our president. I'm aiming for January 20, 2013.

  11. I think Michael Medved just said there was a walkout on Bibi's speech, also...which wouldn't surprise me. (Gah.) Anybody have a list of who split?

If I didn't hear that right, please forgive me.

  12. Dopple, we'll have to wait at least that long, I'm afraid.

By then, I hope most Americans are as hungry for a president who loves his own country as we are.

  13. Mass. Gov appoints Paul Kirk to Sir Swimmer's seat.

We the Gov. had an (R) appointments to a vacant Senate were not a good idea. Now that (D) sits in the Governors chair they are.

Hypocrisy they name is followed by a (D).

  14. Didn't they show the table with the placard "Islamic Republic of Iran"? Empty. They probably never came. I can't find who walked out.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Canada, France and Germany are showing more clarity than Obama / Clinton.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Iran never showed up, I'm not finding a walkout list for Bibi's speech.

Before the election, I said several times that regardless of where he was born (Hawaii, of course) or what passport he holds, he is not really American. He doesn't have that instinctual understanding of the American people or any fellow-feeling with Americans. He doesn't even have a clear grasp on American geography. I guarantee he has never teared up at the National Anthem or felt stirred by a flyover of military jets.

    ReplyDelete
  18. dopple: I think being abroad during formative years really impacted him in that regard. He was born on American soil, but I agree - I don't think he has that deep seed of patriotism that exists in a lot of us.

Of course, there are a lot of liberals who grew up here who don't seem to have it either, so maybe I'm way off base. I always figured it had something to do with his upbringing abroad, but maybe it's more that he's been taught all his life by various individuals that America wasn't great.

I'd like to hear what Pink thinks about this.

  19. doppel,

He sees America as the sum of it's (in his view) of it's shortcomings.

This view was informed by his training, his mother, Frank Marshall Davis etc... In his life choices it's clear the training took hold. By who he sought out in education, in associates and in religious leaders.

His POV is define by what he perceives as wrong with the nation, it's institutions, it's people.

Therefore, it all needs change, it's all wrong and needs to be rectified.

His view of the country is the dominated by the Alinsky / Wright lens.

  20. Then there's this (a response by the school that had kids singing praise songs to Obama):

Response to Unauthorized Video of Class Activity
    September 24, 2009

Today we became aware of a video that was placed on the internet which has been reported in the media. The video is of a class of students singing a song about President Obama. The activity took place during Black History Month in 2009, which is recognized each February to honor the contributions of African Americans to our country. Our curriculum studies, honors and recognizes those who serve our country. The recording and distribution of the class activity were unauthorized.

It's the ACORN strategy. Shoot that messenger!

  21. CC and JCM, I think you're both right. He did not have an American elementary education and missed a lot of the stuff we take for granted - the pilgrims, the American Revolution, westward expansion, etc. Obviously he got that knowledge in high school, but I think learning them at a young age implants them in your mind in a different way.

OTOH, his education was heavily influenced by anti-American voices. When your mother is a wandering hippie perpetual student and your first mentor is a self-proclaimed communist, it's to be expected that he'd be like that. I just can't understand how so many people couldn't grasp that. The far left is still a small minority; most of the people who voted for him actually love America as much as we do, yet they voted for a man who hates America and wants to remake it in his own image. I hope people are waking up and we don't have to endure more than one term of this.

    ReplyDelete
  22. CC,

"No nation can or should try to dominate another nation," Obama intoned. "No world order that elevates one nation or group of people over another will succeed. No balance of power among nations will hold."

    Ignorance and naivety.

That is rife with Alinsky "justice" memes. If one individual / group / country hold disproportionate sway in any arena of endeavor an "injustice" is occurring.

  23. Netanjahu is such a sane, clear speaking yet savvy politician. What a lucky break of fate that he became PM in a time when Europe yields more and more to the demands of the islamic nations and Obama became president.
Obama the president least likely to stand up for the values and advances of western civilization.
    Netanjahu is da man.
In these times he can very well turn out to be a hero of our times.
Let us hope that he doesn't need to.

    Hi y'all C2 people.

  24. let's be extra special nice to PBJ
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers (and sisters)

  25. I'm sorry, guys.

We have to enforce the policy uniformly across the board. Please don't get started talking about other blogs. It will only snowball, and we really don't want to go down that road.

We know no one intends to do anything bad, but it would only encourage others to participate in a conversation about it.

Thanks for your cooperation on that.

  26. Canada, France and Germany are showing more clarity than Obama / Clinton.

Boy...isn't that the sad, pathetic truth?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Sorry CC.

    I understand completely.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Thank you VERY much, Sage - I appreciate your taking it well.

That said, I agree...let's all buy PBJ the beverage of her choice! She's great.

  29. And I am back. Netanyahu definitely hit it out of the park with this speech. The unfortunate part is where he gave it. No one there will listen to him at all.

  30. Hi y'all C2 people.

Hey Cal23. Hope you are well over in Germany.

  31. Hi P2, Cal, all our afternooners.

Too bad Bibi can't run for POTUS.

I second that. I missed Sage's comment but I can deduce the comment.

Because I like this place, CC. It feels like home.
And I like PBJ...one of the nicest people I know.

  37. P2:

Bare can answer that more thoroughly, but I can tell you this much.

A great deal of the new site is in place and ready to go. The hold up now is primarily based in design (as in graphic design) issues. Bare and I need a few days to work together on that, and will have them over the weekend. If all goes well, we're just a few days out.

At this point, it's my fault, 'cause I'm kinda picky like that. : )

The delay can be squarely blamed on the Design Czar...yours truly. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  38. LOL CC. It always boils down to the paint, carpet, furniture, drapes.....

/been there done that, why I love being single.

    //milk crate furniture rocks. ;)

  39. It's after 5 on the east coast, and if it's too early for you to drink, it's not too early to enjoy some music. My husband discovered this group today and recommends them highly:

    Swell Season

  40. Milk crates are okay, but if you want the quality stuff, P2, go for the cinder blocks. Heavier, you see. : )

The Blogspot is a little more comfy thanks to Pi Guy's idea this morning and the avatars finally showing up - but we'll roll out the new site as soon as we can. We just don't want to do it before we really are ready.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Hi Erik,
I am well thanks for askin'. You are good people.

SORRY y'all are GOOD PEOPLE !!!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Actually, a lot of it is MY fault, as well, because I've been working tired, too much coffee and no sleep, and making simple mistakes... leaving CC to have to come along behind me with the broom cleaning up my messes.

    ReplyDelete
  43. PBJ, it's never too early for music.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Hi right back. Taking a little break here in front of the A/C. It's so hot here!

    ReplyDelete
  45. PBJ: GMTA! Unfortunately, your link seems to be broken.

The Swell Season is a project by Glen Hansard of the Frames and Marketa Irglova, who starred together in the movie "Once." He won an Oscar and a Grammy for Falling Slowly from that movie. Lovely, haunting music.

  46. Running Bare, CC,

I say this in many a meeting when deadline pressures mount.

Do you want it now, or do you want it right?

If you want it right it will be another week.

I can give it to you know, but then we'll spend three weeks fixing it to get it right.

I'm content hanging out here for the time being.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Hi, Callahan, EtR, Desert Sage, RB, P2, and anyone I may have missed. It's getting so busy in here, it's hard to greet everyone by name.

    ReplyDelete
  48. YAY. Thanks, JCM.

We want it to work right, but we also want it to look right...and it's not the easiest thing to make those things happen simultaneously when it comes to this stuff.

We do definitely appreciate the patience people have displayed.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Hi {doppel},
how are you doing? You are sweet in your efforts to greet everyone. :-)

    Hi CC,
I am content in hanging around here a while longer as soon as you guys are all right with the finished site and then let us in and all will be groovy.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Callahan, I'm fine, thanks. I don't know if you heard about the major flooding in Atlanta. It didn't affect me directly, but a lot of the surrounding areas are still underwater.

PBJ, a little Pat Benatar is always a good thing.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Doppel,
I am very glad that the floods missed you!
Yeah and I heard about them even in some German media they made headlines as a support in the climate change meme.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Callahan, my son actually called from Japan to check on us. I'm not surprised the media would try to use it to promote climate change. I seriously think they can't tell true climate change from mere weather. But why let data get in the way of a popular ideology?

    ReplyDelete
  57. Doppel, yeah, why let scientific facts and knowledge, or even common sense get in the way of a popular ideology?
Weather, ooh yeah thats of course the same as climate, doh. Some people are so very thick!
