FOOOOOOOOOOOTBALL!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy son's team won in the pouring rain yesterday 19-0 (odd score, I know -- two missed extra points in the mud). Michigan won; Auburn won; USC lost. Life is good.
Got my beer and chips ready. Hello C2ers I see a few new faces have found their way here:)))
ReplyDeleteHey y'all - forget this day - tomorrow night's game of Cowboys vs. NY Giants is THE GAME of the week.
ReplyDeleteAnd as a lifelong NY Giant's fan all I can say is...................I hope the Cowboys don't play as well as my Giants and the officiating doesn't change that.

Build it, and they will come!
Hey Lucius - congrats to your son and
ReplyDeleteHey Erik The Red, yes indeedy there were a lot of new faces in the fruitcup thread!
How are y'all doing today?
Oh,btw, this is realwest - TypePad for whatever reason gave me an number and took away my name!!
Super Bill and Super Bob are ready to play!
ReplyDelete/beer time!
LOL rw. Just wait until 44 pushes his healthcare through.:(( Then you will really only be a number.
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one here? Then I get all the chips ... hee hee heee.
ReplyDeleteETR - hush yo mouth my friend - if any of the five healthcare bills gets passed, I'm in deeper doo-doo than I am now!
ReplyDeleteAnd anyway y'all, I've gotta go now. Hope y'all have a nice day and that I get the chance to see you all down the road!
Good morning all! I see DEZ is here. Woot!

ReplyDeleteGood morning all! I see DEZ is here. Woot!
PJB? hmmm.
Dont tell me, I wanna see if I can figure that one out.
Second game in a row the Pats get off to a slow start.
ReplyDeleteDEZ, it's easy.
ReplyDeleteDamn Brady is off to a terrible start to the season. Same last week. Only came alive in the 4th quarter.
ReplyDeleteDamn Brady is off to a terrible start to the season. Same last week. Only came alive in the 4th quarter.
ReplyDeleteArgh. Now he throws an INT. THis is gonna be a loooooong stressful season, I can tell.
Luckily a 3 and out series by the Jets, and a punt put the pats right back where they were when Brady threw the pick, so at least no harm came of it.
ReplyDeleteTHis kinda makes me happy, at the end of the first quarter:
ReplyDeleteFirst Downs Pats: 4 Jests: 0
Total Yards Pats: 75 Jests: 3
Passing Yards Pats: 43 Jests: -13
Rushing Yards Pats: 32 Jests: 16
Although I wish Lawrence Maroney would remember he's PLAYING IN THE FRIGGING NFL, not COMPETING ON DANCING WITH THE STARS... Grrr...
ReplyDeleteGreen Bay up 14 - 7 against the Bungles...
ReplyDeleteDetroit up on the Viqueens 3-0...
Atlanta putting it in Carolina's butt, 7-3...
Arizona having their way with Jacksonville, 17-3...
Kansas City hating on Al Davis and the Faiders, 3-0...
Nawlins beating Philly like a dog, 10-7...
Tennessee and Houston apparently still have teams, with TN up 14-7...
And the 'skins are barely beating that juggenaught powerhouse known as the Rams... 6-0...
Wow. Maybe I need to get the Bar Wench in here, or I need to grow some boobies...
ReplyDeleteObama: 'ACORN? What is this 'ACORN' of which you speak? Never heard of 'em... - heh.
ReplyDeletePBJ = Peanut Butter Jelly
ReplyDeleteAnyone can figure that out...
Or, "Pete's Big Jeep"...
ReplyDeletePvt Bo Jangles? LOL
ReplyDeleteWait, since yesterday was Pirate Day wouldn't it have been Private Booty Jacker? Always stealin' the booty. *shakes head*
ReplyDeleteA few stragglers, but it's pretty much half-time for the morning games. :)
ReplyDeleteHey RB bring out the dancing girls. This room needs waking up:)))
ReplyDeleteMexican Beer Girls
No kidding. I guess everyone is either,
ReplyDeleteA. Avoiding me...
2. Watching the games
C. In church...
3. All three.
Ok that did not work. :(((
ReplyDeleteDid everyone get up and leave when I went to the restroom?
ReplyDeleteJust went shoe shopping with my mom. I love Nordstroms. I can't afford to shop there, but there is something about their business model I love.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile the Falcons are beating up on Carolina. Delhomme hasn't thrown a pick since I got back ... something must be wrong.
I know zilch re football. NY Grampa is watching the Jets vs the Pats...I root for my hometown team, even though I haven't a clue, and NY Grampa roots for his, but he knows stuff.
ReplyDeleteBTW, we each root for different teams. ;)
Hi, PBJ! BBL.
Hey Nana!
ReplyDeleteIt's easy Nana, you team needs to gain 10 yards to get a first down.
ReplyDeleteYou need to figure out how many yards they need to gain for a second down.
:')
Just for the record, I started to say peanut butter and jelly. ;)
ReplyDeleteBut settled on Private BinJamin.
Okay, peeps. I know it's not NFL up here in the Great White Nord, BUT our CFL is an incredible game. Fast, furious and three downs with a passing game that's breath-taking.
ReplyDeleteAaaaaaand - our balls are bigger. :P
Hi there Nana!
ReplyDeleteI've been busy avoiding RB by watching football in church. ;-)
Okay, peeps. I know it's not NFL up here in the Great White Nord, BUT our CFL is an incredible game. Fast, furious and three downs with a passing game that's breath-taking.
ReplyDeleteI've always enjoyed watching the CFL on occasion. I loved watching Flutie play with the Stampeders and the Argonauts. Good times.
Aaaaaaand - our balls are bigger. :P
True, but that was caused by a hernia, from trying to carry around those huge Canadien egos ;)
I've been busy avoiding RB by watching football in church. ;-)
ReplyDeleteA-HA! I knew it!
PBJ
ReplyDeleteHiya, toots! Long time no see. Football in church?
How's Calgary doing these days?
ReplyDeleteOops. Wife just called. Locked herself out of the car again. BBL
ReplyDeleteI just want to go on record as saying - PBJ and Nana are two of the nicest people on the interwebs.
ReplyDeleteRB? Hmmmm.....not so much.
:')
Miss Trixie...just kidding, I was lurking around on the interwebs. Good to see you!
ReplyDeleteRunning Bare
ReplyDeleteI've always enjoyed watching the CFL on occasion. I loved watching Flutie play with the Stampeders and the Argonauts. Good times.
What you said! That brings back wunnerful memories in Calgary of my Beloved Stampeders and the glory days of Flutie and Pitts. Some of THE best foozeball I've ever seen.
Thanks for that.
True, but that was caused by a hernia, from trying to carry around those huge Canadien egos ;)
SMARTYPANTS! :D
Our running game HAS to be fast - ever played in -20F in an outdoor stadium in November?
Hurryuphurryuphurryuphurryup!
*major shrinkage*
:D
Damn it. There goes the Pats game. :((( Brady never got going today. Great pass rushing by the Jets.
ReplyDeleteSage,
ReplyDelete"
RB? Hmmmm.....not so much."
Why? Do you suspect that RB is really that governor who goes on the "nekid" hikes? ;-)
*$$%@!*#$!
ReplyDeleteThat is all.
/Packer fan
Chris Wallace interviewed Bertha Lewis today? I have to watch that. It'll cheer me up.
ReplyDeleteLucius Septimius
ReplyDeleteHello there! Good to see you.
Sage?
I will seek you and find you! Football? Shmootball! Yo no comprendo! ;)
BTW, I love seeing your original avatar again!
Me? PBJ is the best. And you're not so bad yourself!
Hi, Miss Trixie!
Shrinkage!
ReplyDeleteLike a frightened turtle!
I have a grumpy tired baby in my lap who bumped his noggin. And when I got wifee into her car, then mine wouldn't start. And it's raining. Still. I think I've got enough lumber to make a small ark.
ReplyDeleteHi Miss Trixie.
ReplyDeleteI still cannot forget the story about you standing at the top of the stairs slapping your bum and saying "come and get it" to the house guests.
So how are things up in Le Nord plus Grande et Blanc?
Hat Trick
ReplyDeleteThank you {Sage} and {Nana}. You two are the best!
ReplyDeleteHat trick? Three posts in a row? ; )
ReplyDeleteTrue, but that was caused by a hernia, from trying to carry around those huge Canadien egos ;)
ReplyDeleteClassic. Bare. Snark. LOL
(I've been listening to it for eight straight years. ; )
We've got some really great Canadian friends here, by the way...it's very cool! We're international!
So much for this being the Bears' year. Good gravy.
ReplyDeleteNice pass, Rothlisberger.
ReplyDeleteObama 'skeptical' about more troops
ReplyDeletePresident Barack Obama is warning U.S. commanders that he’s “skeptical” about whether more troops will make a difference in Afghanistan, saying he’ll approve an upcoming request only if the forces fit into a strategy to beat back al-Qaida and protect the United States.
“Until I'm satisfied that we've got the right strategy I'm not gonna be sending some young man or woman over there — beyond what we already have,” Obama said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” “I'm not interested in just being in Afghanistan for the sake of being in Afghanistan or saving face or, in some way – you know, sending a message that America is here for the duration.”
U.S. generals are preparing to seek as many as tens of thousands additional troops for the increasingly unpopular conflict, but in several of his five Sunday talk show interviews, Obama made clear that he’s far from convinced about the need for a massive infusion of troops and won’t be rushed on the decision.
/[expletive deleted] the generals, Obama knows best and he wants to surrender
Hi {{Nana}}
ReplyDeleteLucius
I still cannot forget the story about you standing at the top of the stairs slapping your bum and saying "come and get it" to the house guests.
*Blushes beet red*
I had almost forgotten that but it sure was funny!
So how are things up in Le Nord plus Grande et Blanc?
Not too bad, thanks. Removed my ACs yesterday, shined the windows and have to see about getting some more wood delivered for the winter season - it's gonna be here before ya know it, dammitall.
Presently, it's a gorgeous late summer day and I wish this mild weather would continue until spring ...
/[expletive deleted] the generals, Obama knows best and he wants to surrender
ReplyDeleteThat's Obama. Inspiring confidence, one stubborn, incompetent move at a time.
Keep in mind; by opposing Obamacare, you are undermining the war on terro .... oh, excuse me ... the active negative reinforcement of patterns of behavior deemed acceptable within the context of the western masculinist capitalist christo-fascist hegemony among subaltern classes subject to the ravages of instutionalized racism and plutocratic exploitation by the forces of post-industrial financial imperialism.
ReplyDeleteThat's one of the problem of being a leftist -- it's hard to articulate genuinely stupid ideas in less than 100 words.
ReplyDeleteAs for me and mine, we shall eat chips and watch football.
ReplyDeleteLucius
ReplyDeleteYou asked about how the Stamps are this year? They're presently in 2nd place in the West and Montreal is 1st in the East. In fact Montreal just spanked Winnipeg this arvo 33-14 and right now, Saskatchewan and Edmonton are tied with 7 and it's a GREAT game. Go Roughies!

Off to make a salad for the rest of me dinner...

<*em*>Your text to be inserted<*/em*> but fist remove the asterisks.
Same with Bold type:
<*strong*>Your text to be inserted<*/strong*>
Italics and bold type. Doin' those is a lot more copy 'n paste than one would imagine.
ReplyDeleteDoing that faster is a simple step closer with: ctrl + c; and ctrl + v
;-)
Aha! I just realized I left out the dash in the close tag!
ReplyDeleteDoh.
LOL. My youngest was just on my laptop checking her email. I jumped back on and wrote a comment. Went to post it and it was going to post as her name. Lost the comment when I logged myself in. I can't wait until the new diggs open. :)))
ReplyDeleteDid Big Government get another scalp?
ReplyDeleteThe article (Taxpayer Funded Serve.gov Filtering Activists to ACORN) has a comments section, and the second comment is:
It's already gone. "No search results" returned. Boy they're quick.
I like this Big Government site!
ETR: Oops! LOL
ReplyDeleteYou can delete your own comments here, which is handy. : )
For the first time in about a week the sun is shining. Meanwhile I hear thunder -- and way too close for comfort.

ReplyDeleteI thought that this / would be a slash and this \ a back-slash. At least that's what I've been told in England. Dash - Slash?
Is that the same as the difference with:
tomatoe and tomato ?
Of course this is the week I was going to teach oldest boy celestial navigation.
ReplyDeletebackslash -- my bad.
ReplyDeleteI'm really tired and finding it hard to think clearly. Obviously I need more beer.

From that article:
Pro-Obama activism is the new welfare.
Despicable. Nepotism at it's worst.
Despicable. Nepotism at it's worst.
ReplyDeleteObama is a typical Chicago politician. Why did anyone expect otherwise? Of course, most of the libs I know who voted for him knew nothing about him or about the Chicago machine.
They're learning quick, though.
At least it wasn't Harold Washington ...
Off for the day, have fun all.
ReplyDeleteLucius Septimius said...
ReplyDeleteAt least it wasn't harold
I work for a semi-governmental company and am daily living through this hell of nepotism, insider deals and party politics.
Those who work their asses off are usually the not so well connected.
I used the word "despicable" very deliberately.
"America’s foundation will be built one community at a time – and it starts with you.”
ReplyDeleteToday Peoria; tomorrow the WORLD!
DEZ said...
ReplyDelete( ( DEZ ) ) see you down the road. Buddy!
OK -- gotta run.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the remaining games. Don't forget to tip your barwench.
Please excuse the following inforuption:
ReplyDeleteIf Iranian medium-ranged missiles(1,000-2,500 km) are now perceived as the basis of a greater threat to Eastern Europe, or Central Europe itself; logic & logistics must dictate that Iran must or will soon have the capability of basing those assets further West(Syria if not Turkey).
Now we take you back to football and -much more importantly- beer.
Did someone say beer?
ReplyDeleteGood afternoon all.
Can we talk college football a moment? If the Cornhuskers have to lose, (and this year it looks like they do), I'm glad to see them lose to the Hokies.
JiV welcome. Glad you found us. This is a great place and a new start. I am trying to think of a new nic when the new diggs opens. :)))
ReplyDeleteGood afternoon Patriots
ReplyDelete/Not NE
hola! Right about this time, 18 years ago, I went into labor. About this time tomorrow, I gave birth. Wow.
ReplyDeleteJim! Hi there!
ReplyDeleteAnd Armywife. WELCOME. :)))
ReplyDeleteHi! Did you happen to get my email? Guess you don't need it now!
ReplyDeleteWelcome Army Wife and JoV.

Hi! Did you happen to get my email? Guess you don't need it now!
ReplyDeleteI did and sent your message to pink and lol.
How are ya today Red?
ReplyDeleteBetter than I deserve to be. Watching football, drinking beer and cooking chicken on the grill. And chatting to great people at C2. :)))
I'm waiting for RW to show up and start talking smack about his Giants.
ReplyDeleteI am going to enjoy a pom martini on the deck with my husband to celebrate the day our lives changed forever!
ReplyDeleteWelcome Jim and Army Wife!
ReplyDeleteDitto that, PBJ! Welcome Jim, Army Wife, and all of our new guests.
ReplyDelete(A little shout out is in order to ETR for his excellent steerage on the pub thread last night - thanks, ETR - you "get it".)
There is a new thread upstairs for those who want to grind their teeth on some politics (or have a laugh), but there's no rush. Football is on all day!
ReplyDeleteGood afternoon, Committee members! Looks like I've missed most of the football thread. If you are planning an Emmy Awards thread, I will happily be in attendance, snarking like a gay man on all the gowns.
ReplyDeleteThat was indeed an excellent steerage last night. Erik kudos.
ReplyDeleteAlbeit the Blogspot hiccup.
I can't wait until we get our new digs...I keep wanting to use spell check on the word varifacation.
ReplyDeleteWhat? You can't spell beefricafront off the top of your head? : )
ReplyDeleteWottheheckisa beefricafront?
ReplyDeleteLOL - I made it up. I am my own personal word verification generator. (As I moderator, I don't have to do that step - and we could remove it, but we'd be inviting spam. No good choices there, unfortunately.)
ReplyDeleteI like this place, I'm ready to unpack my boxes and hang drapes.
