You can get a bunch of public school teachers on the same show, 'Squatch.
No doubt,CC. I'm still a little stunned by the basic concept of an actual human brain believing any of that was even marginally appropriate. Her brain function is built on some foundation mine isn't.
To avoid the appearance of racism, officials in the Tucson Unified School District have devised a two-tiered form of student discipline—one for black and Hispanic students and one for everyone else—with the goal of creating a “restorative school culture and climate” that convey a “sense of belonging to all students.”
The only way to accomplish that, according to the publicly elected board, is for schools in the 60,000-student district to reduce the number of suspensions or expulsions of minority students until the numbers reflect “no ethnic/racial disparities.” School data that show disparities in suspension/expulsion rates will be examined in detail for root causes and special attention will be dedicated to numbers regarding African-American and Hispanic students, according to the board’s new plan.
Embattled former National Endowment for the Arts communications director Yosi Sergant is out of a job. Late this afternoon, the NEA released a short statement saying, “This afternoon Yosi Sergant submitted his resignation from the National Endowment for the Arts. His resignation has been accepted and is effective immediately.” The agency provided no further details.
Sergant had been under scrutiny after leading a controversial conference call on August 10, where he encouraged artists to create work to promote the Obama administration’s agenda. Sergant was initially removed from his post as communications director, but continued to work at the NEA.
Just two days ago, NEA Chairman Rocco Landesman defended the conference call, saying it “was not a means to promote any legislative agenda and any suggestions to that end are simply false.”
Our policies are very clear, and stated all over this website (the first example of many is here. They are even part of the statement above the posting field - but to elaborate a little:
We have nothing against anyone in particular, but it is our desire to stay completely out of blog wars that are going on between other websites.
We're trying to create an environment here that is comfortable for everyone. We want a fresh start with a level playing field, and nothing more.
Please help us out by not going "there", or anywhere near "there".
Thanks, all. We don't mean to be jerks about it, but we're just doing what we have to do to stay on track.
