CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?

Those are people. Lots and lots of people. Anyone have experience in estimating the size of crowds from aerial photography? There are rumors ranging from one to two million, a drop in the bucket if we're talking about federal tax dollars, but if we're talking people, that's another story. We'll update as the information comes in. (H/T Pink Freud.) (Photo via Moderate in the Middle blog)

UPDATE: AllahPundit points out an interesting line from the NYT: “Many came on their own and were not part of an organization or group. But the magnitude of the rally took the authorities by surprise, with throngs of people streaming from the White House to Capitol Hill for more than three hours.”
UPDATE: It has come to our attention that there are issues with this crowd shot; word is circulating that it isn't from the 9/12 rally at all, but from a Promise Keepers rally in the late nineties. The person trying to pass this off - whoever they are - as a photo from Saturday's rally should be ashamed.

  1. Know several people that made the trip.

Expect video from ciaospirit. She's on the scene.

    And Hello! to everyone.

  2. A spin around the news-o-sphere and the blogosphere shows that the two do, indeed, live in different universes.

I expected a post from Tapper, at the very least. Nope. Not a word.

  3. We're following Tapper's twitter feed. I'll open up the account and watch.

  4. Hello Correspondence Committee.

    Like the Blog Title.

I'm currently reading Andrew Jackson: His Life and Times by H.W. Brands.

A very interesting group our Founders were.

And as for the "incivility" of Joe Wilson our current crop of pantywaists in congress are bemoaning, they wouldn't have lasted 15 minutes in 1800 before they were reduced to a quivering mass of tears.

    Girlymen. PC-ness has emasculated America.

    /parts of it, anyway.

  6. Hahahah - yes, it was rather parliamentary in spirit, I thought!

Interesting that this one man just couldn't stand the lies anymore, to the point his instinct just took over. The media is making a big deal about his opponent's sudden good fortune in fundraising, but I read today - twice - that Wilson himself has seen a major increase (in fact, a bigger increase than the Democrat the media is clearly rooting for).

IF that number of 2 million is correct, that's a greater number than attended Obama's inauguration.

    Heh™

  11. Radio news, coming home from work, 2 newscasts stated "tens of thousands." If the real number is over 1 million, that's like Bill Gates answering, after having been asked "How much money do you have?"..."I'm gettin' by."

  12. Hi y'all - just wanted to stop by and say hi!

    Good analogy!

Two of your hosts here used to work for him. I'm one of them, and I can tell you, he's doing all right. ; )

  19. I wonder what ever became of that gal that started the "'weet dreams" thing? IIRC, it was a typo but it sure caught on. Didn't she post on other blogs as "Beach Katie"?

    ReplyDelete
  20. I have no clue. It was before my time. It was a typo as I understand. A good one tho.:)))

  21. I remember "weet dreams" That was Beach Katie. That was also when other blogs were fun.

  36. Hey Pink - sorry, I keep forgetting to refresh this page to see new comments!
    Hope you're well tonight!
And there appears to be some problem with TypePad anyway, it keeps giving me an "Your Open ID credentials could not be verified" so I just hit post comment and then again and sometime a total of 4 times before it gets posted!

  37. Typepad seems to be ornery and cantankerous, RW.

Lots of problems with folks logging in with it. Word press, too.

    How are you this evening?

  38. Dowd shamelessly plays the race card in her latest screed. Do people like her realize the racism they are seeing resides inside of themselves? The real crime is that the NYT legitimizes this drivel.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2009/09/13/opinion/13dowd.html?_r=1&partner=rss&emc=rss

    A snippet:

Surrounded by middle-aged white guys — a sepia snapshot of the days when such pols ran Washington like their own men’s club — Joe Wilson yelled “You lie!” at a president who didn’t.

But, fair or not, what I heard was an unspoken word in the air: You lie, boy!

Don your waders. She shovels it deep and high.
